What is the intel we already have on journey cores? Can we infer some materials that are required to craft one and stuff like that?

Cirvante

Until this chapter we only had speculation that Temerity's journey cores were repurposed lair cores. This chapter we've finally got confirmation that they are in fact enchanted sub-cores from a lair. Since the bronze lairs we've seen until now only had a main core, I'm assuming that only silver lairs produce sub-cores. From Tallheart repairing Rain's depth gauge we know that artificers can enchant tel. It stands to reason that enchanting grand tel and lair sub-cores falls under the same crafting discipline. Enchanting crystals, be it tel, grand tel, lair cores, or Halgrave's hammer head, might be a mix of Stoneworking, Runes and Artificing. Ascension would need crafters specializing in those disciplines, as well as access to a silver lair that can produce sub-cores. Then they would have to figure out how to remove the cores without destroying them. Velika might be able to help, since she was able to overpower a bronze lair as a silverplate. A team of Runeworkers, Artificers and Stoneworkers could study the core of Mlem's journey cart and Temerity's stealth cores. This would be a long-term project however, training up crafters takes a very long time.

Immolate, then Purify.

Cirvante

It might not be so simple, depending on whether or not the bugs are recognized as entities by the System. If he can target them with IFF, then writing a macro for Ethereal Immolate to go off regularly throughout the whole camp, even at night, might be possible. He could target only the bugs and the unawakened would be safe. If IFF didn't recognize them as entities however, then only the environmental effect of Immolate could kill them. He would have to use it at a high-enough intensity to kill the bugs, while inverting the aura on all the humans, cervidians and animals to give them resistance. Then he would also have to alternate Immolate and Refrigerate to avoid heating up the environment. With that being said, I think that with insects as big as a thumb, there's a pretty high chance he can target them directly.
