ayyyyeeee thanks for the extra episode! From this point on is the new clean animation. The show did go on hiatus cuz they switched animation studios so 175 was the last episode with the old studio. From this point on the show aired as "Fairy Tail (2014)" cuz the animation changed that year and was considered a different season because of it.

I think they separate them into seasons based on production episodes or something, even when series aren’t broken up into seasons for release there has to be some kinda lumping of them by the studios for budgeting and other production quirks. Either way this fight is great, the twin dragons being so hyped up only to job out against Natsu is just endlessly entertaining. Fairy tail members are just consistently built different lol

They ended the season cause the series went on hiatus. They picked up with a new studio for the next season so the art style and coloring changes. It only gets better from here.

Oh and also about the season finale, Fairy Tail went on break for a year as they prepared to continue. The animation studio also changes, so the show came back with new animation and such, so it will look a bit different in the next episode.

Sting: I had a power of friendship flashback that means I win right Natsu: I'm the main character so my power of friendship outranks yours In all seriousness like I said yesterday Natsu vs. Sting and Rouge has to be one of the best fights in the entire series I can't believe we got here already thank you for not splitting the episodes up. The first half of the arc was all set up and now that we're done with that the arc really begins.

so the reason they made that last episode out like a season or episode ending is because fairy tail actually had a reallllly rough time with airing and was actually dropped twice once right after this episode and a second time after the next few arcs and was picked back up which is when they started fairy tail zero but like there was a legitimate 4-5 year gap between those 2 points of time, its just had a real rough history with ratings and network airing

this is where the 1st anime stopped before taking a whole year break before continuing. I myself a that point was a manga reader but can you imagine anime only watchers waiting a whole year to get the rest of the arc? A1 really dropped the ball on that one, who the hell stop in the middle of an arc especial an arc that has consequnces for the rest of the story!

With the anime Beezlebub, it got cancelled mid-arc (sorta. Mid-saga with one arc ending and all the setup for the next one done) so they had to bs a final episode to round it off.

I was one of the ppl waiting a year for Fairy Tail to come back it was horrible having to wait but the new animation was worth it. And tru we still waiting for Black Clover out here 😅

Bunch of misinformation is being spread so as someone who was watching week to week at the time I'll tell you what really happened. The anime was catching up to the manga. The chapter 297 aired September 2012 and the episode aired March 2013. When it aired they were up to chapter 324, not yet completing the Arc. Instead of ruining the Arc by fillers or decreased pacing, they chose to delay the anime by a year to allow the Arc to finish and get a headstart. On top of that the animation studio licensing was changed because they wanted to change the style to better suit the manga. A studio change doesn't cause a 1 year hiatus like one guy said. Another guy said that Fairy Tail was cancelled for a year, which Idk why they think that; Fairy Tail's ratings were higher than ever at that point. So no, it's simply because the anime was catching up and they didn't want to tarnish the Arc, so they decided on this point being the point where they took a 1 year break so that the manga could get further ahead.
