It's entirely coincidence that Ellen wound up with the plant starter Grace-A-Monster, but given the whole green hair thing, it was obviously meant to be!

Granted, Nanase has red hair and she wound up with the water starter Grace-A-Monster, so maybe hair color has literally nothing to do with it. On the OTHER hand, Justin has ORANGE hair, so it's fitting he got the fire starter, so... Hm.
