Also, I think a lot of people are probably looking at that blog right now, so it might be a little slow to load at the moment ^^;

Whoo Hoo! I will re-pledge! Sorry for jumping the gun, but I always believe that executives ignore comments but pay attention to accounts. The large amount of people cancelling pledges was noticed!

AstroChaos

What's that Timmy? Making sweeping changes to the system without consulting either the people paying or the people getting paid turned out to be a horrible idea?

Huzzah!

now if the FCC vote would get cancelled too, that´d be great

Yayyyyyyyy! (Wacky flailing Kermit dance)

Yep, I bet that was it. I went through and canceled almost all my pledges on Monday night. Admittedly, I kept Dan’s pledge going... his Patreon is one of the few from which I get actual perks for donating. The ~20 that I canceled are all out of pure generosity. Though now I have to figure out which to reinstate...

PSadlon

My pledges were few and small enough that I had no plans to make any changes to my pladges but I am glad they changed their minds. I felt the general reasons behind that change weren’t bad but the changes themselves could do more harm than good.

Michael Booth

I used the email I received from Patreon on 12/1 listing my pledges to reinstate. I only had 19 at the $1/$2 level.

This was basically my thoughts on it as well, down to the change and the undoing of the change, and my reaction to the change.

Honestly, I could have eaten the surcharge on my pledges, but the decision to stop aggregating the money transfers was a deal-breaker for me. Fortunately, I had a feeling that the outrage would affect things, which is why I decided to wait until January to pull the plug and find an alternate way of funding (basically anyone who had a tip jar on their web site).

Of course, if I was going to eat the surcharge, that probably means I could increase my pledges. Hmm, time to examine my current set-up.

coredumperror

Oh man, I did it the sucker's way. I wrote down all my pledges and pledge levels manually. I totally should have thought of using that email!

This is the only pledge I have (being broke as hell lately), I stopped it as soon as I heard, and I’m very happy that Patreon got the message from those of us who did so. Did not want Dan to suffer for Patreon’s dumb move.

Umm no … the FCC was the only thing regulating the internet providers in the first place. We don’t need to get rid of it, we need it to be responsive to the citizens instead of the rich and powerful.
