Curious about the rules: are the no-type cards the only ones you can still play even if you're not trying to capture a space? Or could Catalina have played a 1 or 2 card on herself, even though she wouldn't get the three-space, in order to draw different cards? (Also, love Ashley's pun there at the end.)

I playtested under the assumption that you had to be buying or taking a space to use transformation cards, though I'm not sure if that's what would be best for a finished game (it's designed around encouraging rampant transformation, after all).
