Hey everyone, I've been very busy working on a gameplay concept build the past few weeks, this will be an early version of the core gameplay systems including:

  • Large multi level procedural space station
  • Mini map/world map system with fog of war that's revealed as you explore the level
  • Map marker system that displays important locations
  • Enemy AI (with voice acting) - finally something to shoot and kill!
  • Dynamic enemy spawning system for spawning waves of enemies
  • Player health/death system
  • Pickups for collecting items such as health and currency
  • Container system for objects such as lootable chests etc
  • Teleporter that can beam you on to other ships

These are by no means finished and some of the systems are placeholders for more complex ones that will be introduced later. This is all about finding out what works and creating a foundation that will evolve into the full game.

In desktop mode you have a mini map + full map as seen in this screenshot. In VR the map is mounted on your wrist, you can glance at it to see what's nearby or point at it to expand and see the whole level.

The procedural algorithm has been designed to make it easy to create different themed rooms and levels, this will make it possible to add more variation once there's more ships to explore. I'll also experiment with combining proc gen with handcrafted areas to further improve the look of the environments. This will take some experimentation to find the right balance.

^ Lootable containers

^ The Self-Aware Science Bot! - Originally created as a science robot, these little fuckers have malfunctioned and gained sentience. They're now noticeably more... unstable.

^ Restraint machine with movement controls

I'm also planning to include more sandbox/sex content in this version, this is going to take time but I'm aiming for release some time in the next month (hopefully sooner).

Once this update is completed there will be another Quest update - comment and let me know what you want to see in the next Quest build! I'll start by looking into texture importing and passthrough mode, I can't guarantee these are going to be possible but I'll do my best!

Thank you everyone for the amazing support!👽

how to install on uculus quest 2??? The Sidequest app on pc looks by me more different like the videos on youtube i look, i cant put the files on my oculus quest 2 Pleaseee Helpp!!!

Make sure you have sidequest fully installed and open (not just in your browser) on your computer and that you have developer mode, debug tools and file sharing enabled on your quest once you hook it up to your computer. I believe there are two files to install, an APK and a .obb file. To download these, the easiest way is to download them onto your desktop from patreon, then drag the .apk and obb files (in that order I think) into the top of the sidequest app near the little green circle. That should put it right on to the quest.

Yes I downloaded the full sidequest app and opened it, but I only have one bar where I can put the apk in and a target folder where it should be. That annoys me because it looks completely different for other users on the internet who also do it. I have sidequest version 1.17

You shouldn’t need to mess around with any destination folders, the way I was able to do it on sidequest was to just drag and drop the files directly onto the main sidequest app page, at the top left. If you’re still needing help, reach out to me on discord since you’ll probably be using that for the game anyway. I’m campypotato #4518

in my experience it looks like sidequest has a new version that can't install apk, i tormented all day and then did everything with bugjaeger

CaptainHardcore

The new version of SideQuest is for use directly on the Quest, you can still download the latest desktop version from their website. BugJaeger also works fine.

Cant wait to see the new release for quest. It would be great if you could (as the pc version) load tons of different models so we dont have to edit every AI character everytime we load a new one.

The new environmental game stuff is distracting from the real attraction: the hardcore. Please keep it simple, and center the player experience on unlocking hardcore assets, and tutorializing the hardcore gameplay.

For example, try to unlock a new character by going on a mission to fight your way to point B while a voice explains the concept of recording animation motions. Then when you get to point B you get a walkthrough of how to do it with the model in the restraint chair: hold B, move her hand to record the animation cycle, let go, win her model.

CaptainHardcore

That's pretty much the concept - a fun roguelite style shooter that'll progress the story and unlock new sex machines (and other items) as you go. I'm not planning to create a big space RPG with complex mechanics. It should tie in well with sandbox mode (plus I'll add cheats or something if you want to get straight to the sex stuff!)

What are the system requirements to run this on a pc? Not pcvr but just as a pc game
