This is a text about an abandoned game, please let me know if you want me to do more of these in the future.

Not every game I start ends up completed.
Some die after a few sketches, others get a lot more done.
This is a game that I abandoned at some point, that I thought would be interesting to show the character designs.

Space Story was something I thought about doing back in 2017.
The plan was to make a spiritual successor to Rest Stop.

This was back when Rest Stop only had two paths and was in Tumblr.

The plot was pretty simple.

Our main character was travelling back home from space college.
After finishing his training in agriculture to live the rest of his life on a boring farm with his family.
The setting was him being stuck at a Space Station waiting for the connecting flight home.

The player would be allowed to pick places on the space station to spend his time until the flight was ready. He would meet other characters along the way, and if things went well, ditch his plans of going back home.

The scope of this game was bigger than probably most of my previous games.

I wanted the station to have several locations:

A waiting area, a library, a public restroom, a gym, a sauna, an arboretum, the space equivalent of a boiler room and a food court.

Meanwhile the cast would have had:

A janitor, a gym obsessed guy, a space salaryman, an alien nerd, a robot, a space-mall-cop that is literally referred to as "Paul Blart" on the documentation and two more characters in an open relationship.

At some point I realised the cast was too big, and decided to focus on only the first four, and leave the other four for later.

This is why you won't see the mall-cop, the robot or the couple below.

I just never got around to develop them more than the concept idea.

Ron

This is the main character, the default name was Ron.

I always had a soft spot for nerds and glasses, so he was basically the only guy in space that did not get laser surgery.

I wanted the design to be diverse, so every look was based on something different. This look is inspired by the Star Trek TNG uniforms.

Just like most of my main characters, he is pudgy, and dorky.

Bill

Here is Bill, the space salaryman.

His personality was meant to be rough. Someone that enjoyed arguing and would respect the main character if you picked strong opinionated choices.

Honestly, I never liked how the dialogue came out, and is one of the reasons I started to lose interest in this project.

His look is loosely based on cheap 70s sci-fi movies with lots of silver clothes.

I feel he is the weakest design of them all, and one I'm not happy with.

If things went right, the main character would still go back to farming, but Bill would come over to take him away.

Guy

The musclebound character of the bunch.

He would mostly hang out at the gym and was into being worshipped.

I was not happy with how I wrote him.

He was pretty much an asshole that found the character as something cute to collect.

Despite that I kind of like his look. It's inspired by Flash Gordon with some Star Trek 2: Wrath of Khan.

What can I say? I am a nerdy trekkie by heart.

The idea of rewriting these last two characters is a big reason why I mostly gave up on this game.

Breex

Now we start with the characters I like.

Breex works as a janitor in the space station.

You'd meet him around the station, where he would be doing various jobs keeping the station clean.

If things went right, you would have some fun in the boiler room and the restroom.

And if things went really good, you would just stay at the station and work as a janitor side by side with him.

For some reason I love the idea of space janitors, so anytime I do sci-fi I end up sneaking one (if I don't just make them the main character).

Our janitor friend was dressed in a style more akin to Star Trek Enterprise.

Sherman

Sherman is just a nerdy guy focused on his gaming console.

He was meant to be shy, and the most you'd do with him is a blow job, leaving the actual sex for the good ending.

I love the design, big ears and fluffy neck. Honestly don't be surprised if I reuse his species for any future game.

The clothing is faintly inspired by Han Solo from Star Wars.

And that's pretty much it. I never got around to do any CGs or backgrounds for the game.

If you guys like this, I can look at my archive of things and comment on other games I had planned to do at other times.

I should warn you that not all of them reached this level of completion.

Some are just sketches.

This is fun! Thanks for sharing!

I'm glad to hear this. I'll probably post more entries with other games in the future.

I would be absolutely adore seeing this honestly anything and everything you do absoltuley perfect and pervy.

caesarcub

Thanks for the kind words. Things were far from perfect, that why I stopped working on these games XD

Sherman looks adorable, glad you shared these designs with us. I've also had a fondness for Sci-fi sanitation workers ever since I played the 'Space Quest' games as a kid

caesarcub

I never got around playing Space Quest when I was a kid. I was mostly a Lucas fan, probably because the English text parser was a big hurdle for me back then.

Damn it that makes me want to play this game so bad ^^

Xyverz

Bill's pretty hot! I'd do him. :-)

I doubt I'll ever get to making this game, but I think I'd definitely borrow from some of the character designs for other projects if it makes sense. XD
