This was technically his debut as a lead hero. The other movie in his filmography before this is a Rekha starrer and he plays a supporting role as her brother in law. He and Bhagyashree had one of those overnight success stories as a lead pair, as individual actors from this movie. Amazingly enough, the lead female actor quit the movies after her debut film despite it being a blockbuster because she has some royal lineage and her family wanted to get her married. It still bewilders me that this is a true story. It’s also the same adorable director from Hum Aapke Hain Kaun and this was his first movie too. Personally (I know everyone’s gonna disagree with me and I get why) but I think script-wise this is the better film between the two even if this one is not the favorite”. I can’t wait for the day OSR reacts to more songs from their 3rd venture together, Hum Saath Saath Hain (so far they have only seen one song and they liked it!)

2023-11-17 10:05:37 I remember watching this in a theatre on its re-release. It was jam packed. And when Kabootar ja ja song started, a man who was so engrossed in the song he started dancing and he fell off the balcony and died. Movie was stopped mid way and news was all over next day!

I rewatched it later and it had been my most endearing movie of all time. I have very fond loving memories 🥰

Nice song and nice film. Probably it doesn't count as a big Indian Hindi classic - that would be later HAHK with Madhuri. But it's classic from Salman's filmography starting his successful career. You may watch it if you want the experience the charm of young Salman who was really something else. Personally I like some early films of SRK, Aamir or Salman. Interesting perspective for their future evolution. You have watched only SRK's early films.
