Hearing that Jpc and Adal didn't have a bank account til in their 20s sounds wild. I had a bank account at age 5 in 1996 here in Australia. We have regular school banking program to teach kids about money and saving.

Cosmo Calloway

Lol It kinda does sound like Interpol. I love it

I was around the same age for my first bank account too, early 90's had a dollarmite account with the CBA, even had its own little cheque book.

It's sad to see Georgia get picked when they have a pretty shitty record on women and minority rights: https://www.plannedparenthood.org/about-us/newsroom/press-releases/georgia-six-week-abortion-ban-to-take-effect

Sheā€™s doing all the states? Like i get that it could be seen as worse than normal but America in general is bad for that kind of thing?? Iā€™m pretty sure this is just a hazard of this type of episode.

Just got to the restaurant bit but had to immediately chime in to share my favorite restaurant: Gunshow! It's experimental food served dim sum style, where the chefs will bring each plate to your table and pitch it to you. The menu is constantly changing! Plus it's casual wear which is always a plus to me lol

Wales is not in England

What the fuck is this take lol? You're trolling right? The entire federal government is fighting against reproductive rights, should Clue Crew start doing provinces in Canada or some shit instead? Pretty much every single state is shitty in one way or another, it's not like they are nominating the states for some award or something, they're just doing trivia....

Klompus Smith

18:58 following up the "Make Seven-Up Yours". There was a promotional campaign for the Northen Territory in Australia with a much edgier slogan, "CU in the NT"

Iā€™m Georgia born and raised and i have a few food recommendations! For wings, thereā€™s The Wing Cafe and Taphouse in Marietta. Any american deli in the city is probably fine too. Theyā€™re more hit or miss because theyā€™re franchises. For soul food and barbecue i have the same recommendation, pick the rattiest looking joint and go into that. If you see an old black man in a gas station parking lot with a smoker, go to that. Thatā€™s going to be the best barbecue youā€™ve ever had. Also, kind of a sleeper, thereā€™s a huge population of Korean and Vietnamese people here. Pick any local pho place and thatā€™ll be a solid choice. Go to Buford Highway for Korean. When you stop seeing English signs, youā€™re in the right place. Specifically for Adal, youā€™re going to want to go up to Helen, Georgia for Oktoberfest. The whole town thinks theyā€™re in Bavaria and goes all out. Itā€™s a drive but through the Blue Ridge, so youā€™re guaranteed incredible views. If yā€™all ever come down here for a show, i can put together a more specific list of food and weird little places to visit.

So that was basically a Swanlumps version of The Devil Went Down to Georgia, yeah? šŸ˜‚

I was born and raised in Savannah! I always hated it lmao but I get why people love it, it is very beautiful. The nuclear bomb was dropped over Tybee somewhere in the ocean in the 1950ā€™s, they still havenā€™t found it :/

I instantly recognized the Home Depot theme music

Atlanta native herešŸ‘‹ This was absolutely hilarious to listen to, also was literally making cheese toast when I started the episode šŸ„²šŸ˜‚

@Barish Arslan Ya, it is trolling to give a shit about women's rights, really cool take bro. Last I checked the federal government is not in fact fighting against reproductive rights, have you refreshed your browser since 2020? Might want to examine why you are so agro about a simple opinion.

@Juno I hear what you are saying, I guess at the end of the day, people have to decide how happy they are to basically do free advertising for the states they pick. I mean, we all sat through alot of gushing about food and other stuff to see in Georgia. Just feels tone deaf to talk up a state that has enacted policies that kill women, but it all depends what is on your radar.

So the thing is- the state is not a product. Or a problematic youtuber. Advertising is only a word you would pick if you can only view the world as being tags on a product; awful things, good things. As a canadian (a diff horrible place lmao) all of these episodes are America, and people view americas politics as Georgia, as the bad things. People living in it want a break, to listen to a comedy podcast. Should they dedicate a segment in each state for the horrible current goings on? Maybe. Do I feel that defeats the tone? Also maybe. It is a living breathing place with lots of minorities in it who grew up there and would connect with this episode- who know how horrible it currently is. They and other people affected by these issues in the rest of the country do not need a comedy podcast to shout it out at every opportunity, yā€™know? I get that that can sound dismissive, but I just like to view the people making these episodes as people currently affected by how horrible america is. Idk. I could easily argue as a disabled person itā€™s irresponsible to gush about travelling anywhere w covid as it is, as doing so is by and large not safe for people like me, as it endangers us by proxy. Tourists coming where I live, who do not and wonā€™t test, endanger me. I recognize this is a foot note in most peoples lives now, and I just ignore it when anyone does it in pods i like. Is that like fun to do? Nah. But Frames of reference make the world go round.

Iā€™ve lived in Georgia for the past 2 years and it is such a lovely state! If youā€™re in Atlanta spend half a day at Ponce City Market (shopping, food, and some carnival rides and games on the roof). Any food around Piedmont Park is really good, super LGBTQ+ friendly, and you can visit the botanical gardens which are stunning. And an hour north is Cartersville, the museum capital of Georgia! Has two Smithsonian affiliated museums and Tellus Science Museum has the largest gem/mineral collection in the country.

Like Juno said - the state is a living breathing place with good and bad, with minorities and people in power, with lots of good culture, and tons of racism. Clue Crew are not advertising a product or a service. They are doing trivia about a place. They are not picking states to advertise the states and gushing that everything is good and nothing is wrong - it's just trivia. The "trolling" accusation is not about the fact that you care about women's rights it's the fact that you think the 8th most populous state in US shouldn't be picked for the state trivia episode on the Patreon for a riddle podcast because they pass shitty backwards laws just like every other state. My comment about the federal government was referencing what's going on with Roe v Wade but I guess thats a judicial issue not a federal, so pardon me there, but my point still stands. What states would you rather see? I'm 100% sure someone can find some terrible law or something about any state you list.

Generic

@Juno I never said they even have to acknowledge it. But Roe was struck down less than a ago. People can forget about it and normalize what states are doing to essentially attack women. I am not saying that HRR should change it's format or even mention current events (though they often do). We are all here to do, what we are all here to do. If people want to endorse states and advertise for them, normalize what they are doing, that is entirely up to them. It is quite odd, that a suggestion that, maybe, just maybe, they pick different states that are not actively killing women is causing a kerfluffle. At the end of the day, everything is a product. The state you live in, even if it isn't in the USA, has a department of commerce and within that, departments for tourism. The whole point is to create a product, to attract people to come and spend money in your state. For example, goto https://ottawatourism.ca/. It sure looks like advertising, it sure looks like a product. You can redefine the world however you want, you do not have to subscribe to the meaning of words. But when someone tells me how cool something is for 20 minutes, how great the food is, how neat this is, or how awesome that is, that is a commercial. Ads can be fun, they can be entertaining, but if people even spend a minute thinking about what is being shilled, I think that is a good thing.

Hey Riddle Riddle

Okay, I deleted the last message because it felt a little close to a personal attack. Let's try to keep it civil in the comments. And I think we've all expressed our opinions on this one so maybe it's time to move on?

We have family in Atlanta, and the restaurants are indeed great. Shout out to the Deer and the Dove! Also the town Helen does not disappoint. The story behind the town is wild, and pure Americana.

Hannah Cohen

Only a few minutes in- but Stone Mountain still has the laser show and people are still amazed. And I went to the World of Coke last weekend and the cokes from other parts of the world are still gross.

Just getting to this episode and, honestly, surprised that Erin had not quit the show after her experience trying to play the "Coke or Pepsi" game šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚
