Hey folks. This is a public post.

I am going to come clean here. The past few months have been pretty hard for the team. What was supposed to be a relatively small Domina update that would act as the story-focused transition between Hora and Ruby has taken over half a year to complete and it's still not out. We kinda shot ourselves on the foot with this one, because the update was so focused on the required CGs, it would simply either be pointless without them or at the very least would take away from the core playing experience. So, with the development part of the work done, we could do nothing but wait for the CGs to be completed. Unfortunately, as you are aware, this was a major problem. Shakie, our only CG artist, has faced some pretty brutal personal problems during this period, which made her unable to continue work at the same pace she used to. Even with her returning and rejoining the team last month, the work pace is still a lot slower than what it used to be, a lot slower than what is acceptable for our game development. This is simply not sustainable. We have tried to keep ourselves busy with other content while waiting, finding alternative ways to get art, working on Maple Hills or writing bonus Domina scenes with pre-existing CGs; but ultimately the feeling that we're not really advancing our goals and are basically making a fool out of our patrons is hard to shake off. Even when we get the update out, continuing at this pace for future content is simply not in the picture.

To be honest, the past month has been nothing but thoughts about closing down Patreon and abandoning game development for me.

We can boast one of the friendliest communities on the scene here and I am extremely proud for the people that have gathered around my projects for the past years. Believe it or not, reading nice comments, seeing the hype before an update or finding gameplay videos on random sites on the internet has been the main driving force for me during this time. Development problems and delays such as the one of the current year is making me feel like I am letting you guys down. It's not okay for me, the team or for you.

Going forward, if we are NOT to abandon game development, things need to change radically. We love Shakie and we still want to keep her on the team, but it's obviously not feasible to have her work as much as we'd like her to. She unfortunately lives on the other side of the world, so it's not as easy to get constant updates from her (whereas me and Cat meet up in real life constantly). The plan going forward would be to focus all future updates on less CGs, allowing us to pump out updates faster. We would also have Shakie work on Domina exclusively, leaving Maple Hills content for after Domina is fully completed (instead of having her work on both games at the same time like we have been). These changes should theoretically allow us to develop Domina, and later on MHC, at more reasonable timeframes.

However, the planned Domina 2 game would still be an issue. Maple Hills will be a large game, and will continue to receive support and updates for several years. We would like to release Domina 2 before 2050, so that means that at some point, Maple Hills and Domina 2 need to coexist. However, as said above, we would like to keep Shakie working on one game at a time. That leaves 2 options: get a different 2D artist for Domina 2... or develop Domina 2 as a 3D game in Unity.

Both me and Cat are learning both C# and Blender so that would definitely be in the cards in the future. This would also solve the problem of being so reliant on a third-party artist, allowing us to focus the development in-house, which would definitely speed things up. But only if it's something you guys would want to see; jumping from RPGMaker to Unity would change things dramatically for the established gameplay.

Your opinions will matter a lot on the future of our team, or whether that future will even exist. Please share them in the comments.

Thank you for your time.

Hello, I couldn't help but ask that your looking for someone with experience in C# and making games in Unity Game Engine. I have been making games during a 1 year full-course using unity C# and I have made more than 4 games, and I believe I would be a tremendous help to your team still new to C# and Unity and joining you would be a really en-riching experience to becoming a professional game-developer. I'm not sure what you will expect from here on out but I will do my best to self-learn and adapt as much as possible as a fresh graduate to help you with your game however I can, and improve my coding skill and other passionate talents that I have to help you better in future. I was going to ask to join Bo Wei in his game-making project but I would to give this team a try first. I am graduating on late September and will be ready to start working at start of October. Please let me know if you're interested. Thank you for reading.

I lean toward getting a source of placeholder art and allow Shakie to adapt it to her style at a more relaxed pace for consistency. CGs are like frosting though, and they don't have to be used everywhere. I'd enjoy seeing new content with just some basic profile images and such as long as there is a means by which we can go back and see the scenes again later without having to replay sections of the game we've already seen to see the new content. For the most part you already have that though. Actually, that is another enhancement you could work on during the backlog too. I'd love to see some of the scenes which aren't directly accessible at will to be added to the enslavements. Examples would be Rosita's angry last meal scene which is normally only accessible once or the fart scenes which exist only in fights like Narcissa's. You already have all the CGs for those and you could reuse them to make new scenes.

So I’d say make like a teaser demo type for what the game would look and feel like on the unity engine that would give you and the patrons me included what it might be like for a 3D one. Though as long as you keep like a battle system that is turn based then I’m fine ether way if it became more action type well more then likely wouldn’t like

I’d hate to see there ever being a full end to development of these games. They are by far the best story-driven femdom games out there. If 3D feels comfortable moving forward on Domina 2, I think it’s good to let game design evolve that way! Though I would definitely miss the CGs.

I love this game and everything you all do so please don't stop developing the game. As for the problem of the CG's I think getting a second artist that has similar art style would be a good idea and I have seen a couple over the years that have a similar style. Also if you all bringing in enough money on patreon I think this is the most optimal idea cause who knows you might get more notice from people and get more patreons. As for the 3d idea. Idk 3d is weird it can look really good or really bad depending on the style. So if anything I think for that one it wouldn't be bad to see one 3d model and show everyone and that be the deciding factor if you all should do 3d or not. If people like it then great. All I know is please don't stop developing this game its too good just to let it die...

Another comment said, but I think 3D can be risky. It can be okay but it can also look pretty bad. If you prefer that way and feel you could put out a teaser, you'd at least get another source of feedback. I think I'd preferably say try grabbing an additional artist, and not sure if they would be able to support Shakie as well as they work through things so that they're not overstressed as well. In the end, I think the path the causes you the least stress would be best. It'd be a shame to have burn out and to have development stop entirely.

I have not enough knowledge about the different kinds of tools you could be using, to give you an opinionnabout that. I really do enjoy and appreciate the 2D art combined with nicely flashed out and detailed cg art you've been using so far. I would really really hate it, if you would abandon game development in general. I've been a fan of your work/games for years now already and am always eager for your next updates.

Even if the pace is slowed as it is now or diverted to 3DCG, I will be happy to be a Patron to your team.

Ay man, sorry it’s been rough on you guys these last few months. I hurts to see you in such dire straits. You’re one of the few developers making (good) games of this type, and you’ve always been nice to us patrons.

Let me know if you need any volunteer work. I’d love for Domina to come out full fleged, exactly as you envision it.

O.K. It can be hard on a small team and I guess it is. This isn't the first time I've seen projects with outside artists go through this. It's O.K. I'm in it. I'm sure you'll work it out.

i just played up to hora for the first time the story was amazing, i am hyped for what will happen next, but i can wait as long as it takes. love and suport.

Honestly, both decisions would be acceptable. I have nothing against a 3D game, and another 2D artist doesn't mean you have to fire Shakie!

I would be stoked if Domina 2 was a 3D game. I prefer 3D games anyways. Especially a femdom game XD. Having shakie work on just Domina 1, and then when that is finished, Maple hills, I think would be a great idea.

I agree with AZmodifas

sneeky ninja

after domina is done i also think the should work on maple hills a whale before the touch dommina 2
