To Wayhaven’s mechanic: In your very professional honest opinion, how much longer will the detective’s car last? Do you recommend beginning the search for a replacement?

“That piece of junk should have been scrapped years ago,” the large woman answers, placing down a fancy gadget that’s connected to the engine of a sleek sportscar by a multitude of colourful wires.

Her just-as-solid husband rolls his eyes, swiping his hands on his oil-stained overalls. “It’s got character,” he protests.

“It’s got six months before it falls apart,” she counters, waving an electrical tool in his direction. “You’re only defending it because you have a soft spot for the rust buckets.” Her gaze shifts pointedly to the beat-up red car that’s probably older than most of the residents in Wayhaven. “Rust buckets that don’t bring in the income we need.”

He smiles and smooths over the dented hood of the little car. “But they bring happiness.”

Her shoulders sag as she shakes her head. “It’s lucky I love you, Yost.”

“I feel lucky to be loved by you, Sweets,” he replies with a gaze that warms the heart.

(I got a little carried away with this one and almost made a whole scene for them, hehe!)

Two of my MCs would pay the husband to off the car once and for all, even if they have to go without cars. They hate that crapmobile. As do I. XD

Hey, whatever works. Though one of my MCs is perfectly capable of offing it herself, if she had the chance! (and yeah, it's our crapmobile, but all the more reason squash it into scrap metal!)
