More Friday the 13th Sequel Talk - re:View

Jay could babble on about this dumb franchise for hours, so here's a bit more about some of the other sequels in the Friday the 13th series.

There's MORE! Just like Jason... he just keeps COMING back!

I love Crispin dancing to the re:View music. Perfect timing and all. I have to say, the more I watch anything by RLM, the more I start to appreciate editing as an art form. You lads have opened my eyes to that so thank you!

These Friday the 13th Re:Views have been a real treat! They give me flashbacks to my youth... I'm old now... Have a great weekend RLM!

Does anyone else think that in Jason takes Manhattan, when Jason’s mask comes off, he looks like a melted muppet? He doesn’t look scary at all, just kind of sad

Anonymous

Oh totally. I actually really like part 8 but when Jason’s unmasked he just looks ridiculous. Although I do think they show some of that superhuman strength in part 3 when Jason crushes that guys head and his eye pops out, and he even has a little bit of personality in that one as he’s essentially taunting our final girl toward the end of the movie after she tries to hang him.

How could you not mention the kid in part 5?! He's great!

Manuel Johnen

Especially after the incredible make up job Buechler did on Jason in part VII...

Marvin Falz

More please! :D

They are right, "Friday the 13th" is the one genre franchise that just simply shouldn't exist, Jason's appearance in part 2 defies all kinds of logic. This also ruins the 2009 remake in a way, because that's actually not just a remake of the original, but of the first four movies at the same time... that thing actually manages to fuck itself in the brain in the first five minutes, after Nana Vistor (from DS9, Mike, DS9!!!) gets decapitated and Jason appears on screen... what... huh... how...? :/

Is this Jay’s Star Trek?

Juan Calvo

I love part 8! It's pure self aware escapism, and not too terrible... Love Jason melting and vomiting, the kills, the antagonist teacher (insert Star Trek reference), etc. Great horror re-View.

AllGoodNamesRGone

Yeah, it gets a bad rap and it's justified due to mostly taking place on a boat. Yet it's 80s cheese and completely trashy in that 80s way.

Tony P.

Poor Jay, someone get that man a color printer cartridge! Meanwhile Mike is running around buying up and mistreating Star Trek memorabilia. Spread the wealth. OH, the injustice!

Lisa

Will these eventually run neck & neck with the "Crystal Lake Memories" documentary? Because I'd totally be down with that.

Jessie Zimmer

I haven't even made it beyond the first movie in the franchise, but I deeply enjoy these videos. I also appreciate Josh being like, "Nope, didn't wanna see that one." It would've been so easy to pretend and say he liked and watch them all. Good on ya, Josh.

Neil Peart, Lord of Drums

This really should have been Jay talking about Part V "for hours." Also, everything I've seen of Linda Blair beyond The Exorcist tells me that the reason she didn't make the big time is because she's a bad actress.

Lisa

Most of them have blended into one giant movie for me but agree that so much comes from listening to/watching someone who truly enjoys them.

Lisa

There is a book by Lois Duncan called "Summer of Fear" which I absolutely loved as a teen. They turned it into a tv movie called "Stranger in our House" starring Linda Blair. Never knew until just now that it was directed by...Wes Craven. This is always what I think of after "The Exorcist."

I love you guys. I finally have something to contribute, Manfredini didn't score Jason Part 8. My friend/producer Fred Mollin scored Part 8 on his own and Part 7 with Manfredini. Fred also scored the Friday the 13th TV series because Harry was too busy. I bet you'll hear the slight difference in style and orchestration next time you watch Part8. ------ I love your work. Please keep talking about movies until the day you die. Or I die. Whichever happens first!

My poster board curiosity is satisfied! But I think more re-views need poster boards now.
