This may be a far-fetch... But the combo of Da Da Da and the Safety Dance automatically reminds me of Biodome, since it had both tracks during pivotal moments of the film. I'd like to believe the director or writer are secret Pauly Shore fanatics.

Holy crap. The brief era when Pauly Shore was a legitimate Hollywood star. It's baffling. Although he was in Encino Man, which I watched endlessly on the movie channels as a kid (of course, he was the worst part of the movie).

I don't know when they filmed this, but I asked Jay about this on the community board on October 1st lol. Edit: It appears they had already filmed most of the episode by September 27th according to their updates, so this is likely a total coincidence.
