It’s the kidnapper that had business with Fengming. In the end it has nothing to do with Maomao personally besides the fact that she was kidnapped by those people and sold off as they posed to be her family. Rewatching it, I’m kind of impressed by Jinshi. He is afraid of what it would do to their relationship if she learned that he kept her in the rear palace presumably against her will when he could have let her go free. So in his head there are two options: do I keep her in the rear palace for myself or let her have her freedom outside the palace. Yep it hard when you can’t be truthful. Again it stresses the importance of speaking up. And not assume. Jinhi and Maomao meeting at the working party was so cute. Maomao finally said she wanted to stay. See how easy it is after you speak up. 😁 And the indirect Kiss 😁 He even have Maomao lipstick on his lips now 😁 This really looks like a mid season finale with the recap montage and the point they are in the story. Luckily it’s 24 episodes so we are only halfway into the series. After episode 😂 Yep we have 12 more episodes I like that Jinshi brings her some weird herb/root/insect dropping or whatever that was. He started to know her really well. Jinshi that was quite a feat. I usually roll eyes when anime bring up indirect kiss but I didn’t know they could pull it off in such a mature and seductive way 🥰. There have been a few things that they left unresolved each time Maomao visited the pleasure district. So maybe it’s all going to be tied up in laters episodes when we will know more about Maomao's background. They tease us that it's not just an ordinary apothecary daughter. Good episode, Love the reaction Take Care. 😋
