Hm...on the "what person would be a personification of justice" question... call me odd, but I think it's a contradictory idea. In my eyes, to be absolutely fair, a system that's perfectly just would have to be based on objectively analyzed situations & conditions without any bias, something I don't think any human would be capable of...I'm a bit nihilistic in that regard. Yay, enjoy L & Light playing multi-dimensional chess against each other :D Also, in addition to the distrust, he can have somone investigate L's identity who: - a) can do so without anyone trying to stop him (L can't order them to stop investigating him & the other police officers won't obstuct a suspicious colleagues investigations, I mean, L might even be the killer himself in their eyes & try to look smart by "catching" someone else, right? - b) on who's database he has free access in case they DO find him and - c) Won't reveal Light's identity, even if he fucks it up, because they are not actively working with him & don't have a connection. I don't know if Ryuk had that planned or just threw in the possible deal to make it more interesting & see how Light responds, who knows? With him, the writer finally doesn't need an excuse to add stuff just for shits & giggles XP One thing I realized is that seemingly, in order to survive for a long timespan, disregard for life is basically a requirement for Shinigami; as soon as they get bothered by killing people by writing down their names enough to stop doing it, their life runs out & they die... EDIT: also, unless it's blinding, seeing you in the sunlight isn't a problem for us 😜

Three interesting things: - I think Shinigamis can just write the name of any human they want some lifespan from into the death note. That's how I understood it from the 3 episodes at least - If Ryuk writes Light's name into his death note when Light dies, his remaining lifespan is zero or close to zero. So then Ryuk doesn't actually get any lifespan for himself from that? - Really funny how Light "hacked" his father's computer. It looked like he literally just guessed his password xD
