The pendants are called computation jewels. Notice how the mages' eyes glow different colors. That's them using their magical energy to fly etc. I don't think Tanya becomes unconscious when her eyes turn yellow. That's just her using her God magic. The mages from the Francois Republic are the ones riding the flying hobby horses. The planes are from the Entente Alliance. All mages have computation jewels as a pendant. They differ in appearance based on country. They still need a device to fly. Entente Alliance mages use skis. Empire mages use a box. Russia has not entered the war yet. That's in the movie sequel. You should watch.

Entente Alliance looks like the land where Norway and Sweden would be on our map. I don't know if it really is an "alliance" of multiple countries. There was a "Triple Entente" in our world, consisting of the Russian Empire, the French Third Republic, and Great Britain.

Legadonia Entente Alliance is a country located in the north of the Empire. Legadonia claims the territory of Norden, which is under the Empire's control. Mountains make up large parts of the country's landscapes. (Legadonia's location corresponds to real-life Sweden and Norway. ) -Commonwealth or Allied Kingdom is the Real Life Equivalent for Great Britain. -Francois Republic is the Name of the Real Life France in that Alternate World. -Russy Federation is the Name of Russia in that World. -America is called Unified States in that World. -Principality of Dakia is the Country that tryed to invade the Empire in Episode 5. Trivia: This country's history status was "inspired" by the Kingdom of Romania in World War I. For the sake of taxing the Empire's internal mobilization strategy, it declared war on the Empire. As such, a third front was opened with hope they could draw Imperial units away from the Rhine battlefront, and then consequently force the Empire to hold peace talks. However, this proved deeply wrong, since Dakia had not developed yet any proper mage academy, and did not had any effective counter-air defence strategy, using infantry tactics typical of the previous century. Being useless against World War military tactics, these finally led to the destruction of the Invasion force three full-armed division (600,000 men) and of its military–industrial complex inside its capital. (Note: the anime nerfed Romania completely)

This show is a bit complex with all the different war theatres, geo-political situations and so on, yes 😅 I guess the "surveillance officer" may have been tipped of by a) Tanya charging up energy (which they could see in their sensor readings) and b) there not being any enemies left on the battlefield, so she had to be aiming at something else

That Allied Kingdom (United Kingdom) observer figured out Tanya was tracking them because she was emitting a powerful magical energy. It's like a really powerful radar scanning for their equipment. If their secret observation post is being discovered, there is only one thing that can follow.
