In a Novympia first, yer gerls are travelling up to Liverpool to see some Eurovision action in person. Having started watching Eurovision shortly after the UK won the last time in 1997, we've never even come close to being able to see the show on home turf. With all that in mind, I'm spending this week's pod dissecting what on Earth our next 7 days will look like as well as the tornado that has been our lives over the previous 7.

7pm (est) Society tonight!

Thanks, Lympi. I also couldn't find Kim Cattrall's "Who Do You Think You Are" episode, through fair means or foul. The best I could do was these highlights: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLZsy4Rj7uAiS5AnvMXNcecvmi4-XDGGz7 I completely agree with your thoughts about driving, so much so that I've never learnt. *I* would be an excellent driver. Some of the dickheads on the road? Not so much. I hope you and Nova have fun Eurovisioning x P.S. He's not my king, either.

See you in Liverpool xx

being sober while in clubs is my life lol i do drink, but i've got my dad's alcohol tolerance which means we can drink and drink and drink and feel NOTHING. it's a nightmare when i go out bc i drink my body weight in shots and all i've done is waste money because i just have to watch my friends have fun while i die or boredom. i think i just need to bite the bullet and turn to hard drugs!

oh god Lymp, please re-measure the screen door before Nova orders it, you'll hate yourself if you have to return it. I hope your inner circle appreciate your parties! I'm very jealous, always sounds like you put your heart and soul in to entertaining.

I know it’s an odd comparison to make, but Dami Im is Australia’s Eurovision darling in the way that Loreen has been for Sweden Australia had a great run at the beginning of its Eurovision life and it’s kinda stalling now and it’s heartbreaking to see . Dami has been consistent in the music industry but never at the forefront, but We’re all dying for her to return to Eurovision because she’s nothing if not a top notch performer everytime.

I’ll be in Liverpool for the semi final on Tuesday! Hope you have a great week, I can’t wait :))

Hey gals! Team Steamy Nix here! Hope to see you in Liverpool. Hope you have a great week at the gay Olympics! Team Finland for the win!

Picture it, it's 2024 and you have to chose someone to represent the UK Eurovision entry to represent us on the night. Who are you choosing and how will you stage it?

Sounds like an exciting week ahead for you both! Have a fabulous time🤩

Would love a pod about AI. That music on YouTube of celebs AI generated voices singing other people’s songs is ridiculous. There’s one of Britney’s voice singing Genie in a bottle & it’s the strangest thing, sounds so real in the verses. Another one of her singing Dua Lipas Hallucinate, I’m sure Nova has probably seen them

The vocal synth nerd in me would find this interesting as its been talked about a decent bit (both in positive and negative light)

Listening to this in bursts whilst I do things around the house and had a question regarding one of the past Eurovision Song Contests, with a sprinkle of vocal synths - (apologies if I word it poorly, stream of consciousness) I read that for ESC2017, France wanted to send a virtual singer named ALYS as their representative. Whilst this obviously didn’t happen, what was the general opinion regarding this at the time? I only discovered Eurovision during the 2018 contest so I’m not really familiar with things from the years prior

I went to theatre school (I know) with someone who sang backup for Iceland's entry one year. And if I remember correctly, a year or so before that she got really close to actually winning Iceland's final. It was either just her or the band she was in for a while, Bermuda. I'm not sure what platform you use to listen to music, but if you search Dreaming of Bermuda on Spotify you can hear her on that, should be the first song that pops up. It doesn't show off the full range of her truly insane voice, but it's a bop nonetheless. Anyway, before meeting her I had never heard of Eurovision. I was going through a really rough time and she recommended I give the Netherlands' entry for that year a listen - OG3NE's song Lights and Shadows... In love. I fell in love immediately. Is it a bit cheesy? Yes, but a nice slice of cheese is sometimes all you need. I think some yodeling situation won that year, and listen... Yodeling is great, I respect it, but come on. Love yah, love the pod, a movie rec - Postcards from the Edge. It's based on Carrie Fisher's semi-autobiographical novel of the same name. Meryl Streep plays a version of Carrie and Shirley MacLaine plays a version of Debbie Reynolds. It's incredible and I think you would love it if you haven't already seen it. It's one of my favorites and, in my opinion, has quite a few moments that could be used as cutaways in a Novympia video (me trying to convince you to watch it).

Oh gosh, I'm realizing you may have talked about Postcards on the Meryl episode of the pod and I missed it. If so, my apologies. <3

The last 10 mins I get needing to commit to a demanding and disciplined approach to an event. I hope you find Liverpool buoying and not draining.

Hope you girls are enjoying Eurovision! It looks a lot of fun this year! I always get on the Eurovision train a little late but I've listened to the songs now and am looking forward to the final. Won't bore you too much but faves are Austria, Finland, Denmark and Israel. Israel grew on me after watching clips of her dress rehearsal and listening to the song a couple times. I still think the metaphor being a unicorn is a little silly (no offence to legendary bird original lyrics) Mae Muller is a bit meh if I'm honest. I think she's hot shit but I'm not a fan of the song. Same goes for Norway. (My opinions)

Haven’t actually listened to this yet but just wanted to say that I didn’t get a chance to come say hello but I was at the semi final 1 rehearsal and saw you two with Roly, Luxeria and Autumn in the line. Even from afar I’m not embarrassed to say I was a little star struck. Was the Cherry on top of a great evening, can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the experience of actually being there. I’m trying to think of something funny that went a little wrong in the show but as far as I could see nothing did so instead I’ll thank you for mentioning Dustin the Turkey in one of your videos because without that I’d have been so confused as to what on earth Alisha Dixon was doing talking to a random hand 😂 hope you had a great time! Xox

Ryan Walker

Insane that me and my friend got to meet you and the gang on the night of semi 1. I know if we tried to look for you we would’ve had no hope so thank the lord we lucked onto you at a veg chicken shop lol. Great night with all my faves qualifying and hope you all enjoy the rest of the week!

Yes the Novympics!! That is one of my most watched videos so I am absolutely hyped!! Can we please make it a biannual event? Summer and winter!! ❤️

It’s the strangest thing, things have come on a lot from changing the pitch 😂 this is one of the best ones of Britney I’ve found https://youtu.be/WVA1UZlsh18

Great pod as always. I hope you, Nova, Luxeria and Roly had a great time in Liverpool! I had a nice watch party for the final and although I was rooting for Norway I was happy for Loreen, she has a wonderful voice. A little off topic but speaking of international singers, I was watching one of your old vids where you talked about Indila, checked out some of her songs and now I can't get TOURNER DANS LE VIDE! out of my head lol. It is haunting.

Love you girls! I love Finland's song and also ofc Sweeden. But I did love Israel, UK and Moldova as well. They pump me up for work ❤️❤️❤️
