Come Outside is a British educational kids TV show which ran from 1993 to 1997 and perhaps not-so-surprisingly continued to air for another 15 years afterwards.

As an infant when this first appeared on the BBC, I was utterly enamoured with the show's host Auntie Mabel, as she would fly around the UK with her dog Pippin to teach us about everything from waste disposal to how crisps are made. Lynda Baron, the actress who played Auntie Mabel, recently passed away and so I would like this to be in honour of her, for the millions of children whose childhoods she vastly improved.

Loved this ep. Remember that one episode where pippin almost died at the building site and by the end she’s fully convinced she’s dead and the credits play but the builders turn up and return pippin. Maybe she was just really abusive owner but she’s still iconic.

Hi Love, just watched your Eurovision video and wanted to say two things: When referring to the war on the Ukraine always include this phrasing instead of " ", since it's important to call things by what they are correctly and Russian bots are more active then ever with fake news, Ochman from Poland is actually singing about falling into River, so you, River, so you know, vote Poland *wink wink* Great pod, as always, with care love and my gratitude to you for being amazing 🤗🖤

Omg I saw the title and almost pooed🤣 what a pod it was right up my alley if you pardon. I mean name a more iconic lady/dog combo I'll wait..🤣 Maybe this could start a new pod series exploring other nostalgic 90s/200s kids shows such as: The queen's nose My parents are aliens The singing kettle Big kids Twenties Teletubbies Tots TV Rosie and jim To name a few if you're into/seen any of those.

I could honesty shed a tear reminiscing about Come Outside. I grew up with it and would watch it every time it was on without fail regardless of how many times I’d seen it. The ones that stick so vividly in my mind were the ones about paper and the one about toothpaste. Another great pod doll!

I forgot about the one about Marmalade! That was always my favourite one

I'd never heard of that series before, I don't think it had been aired in Australia. Was still enjoyable to watch though as I love going back in time to revisit my old childhood favourites and it's nice to share in what other people enjoyed too. I'm sure I would have liked this as a kid too. Maybe some of you remember those little sequences on Seasame Street back in the 80's/90's that were inbetween sections of the show where you'd see big bird and the muppets etc. One that sticks out in my mind was the one where it shows you how crayons were made. I remember just being fascinated by how the crayons moved through the factory, but even more was the music used in the clip. Lo and behold, I'd recently happened upon a clip on youtube of the composer of that music called Richard Harvey, taking us through his composition of the piece. It's great to be able to connect with a piece of music in two different ways, in two different points in time. As a kid listening to all the interesting sounds and instruments, and as an adult being taken through how it was constructed. I have no idea what's going on in childen's tv at the moment, but I really hope they too will be able to go back and rediscover their old favourites as well. Feels like it's a bit of a time machine! This was probably my favorite episode ever. I have listened to it 4 times since last week. It’s very relaxing to hear Olympia gently exclaiming about potatoes and the familiar throat farts put me right to sleep. ❤️

I don't really know much about the pod from last week but I just wanted to drop in and say it was still amazing! And I wanted to say that you are the only patreon account that I actually have and unfortunately financially I'm going to have to take a break for a few months and I will be back to the patreon family. I always look forward to your podcast and I love all of your guys's work.
