I couldn't possibly demonstrate what I made last week better than the video can, so go for it, everyone:

So I was sick of working on the character code and I ended up working on the interaction system all week. My goal was to make some kind of explicit toy based on the Besti X codebase that I had, and it's looking... well... explicit! Awkwardly so.

Besti X's interaction system for VR is very direct, and I set up the ability to make VR controllers into friend parts. I needed a universal system that worked on large characters for eqCy, and I needed one for all sizes on Besti X. It's best to write one system, so I did that.

Once I realized that I could turn the programming environment I was working in into an explicit toy of some sort, I figured it would be to use the new Oculus Augmented Reality function they opened up a week or two ago. HOLY SHIT AR's rad for this sort of thing. It's grayscale, which is a bummer, but the sense of physical presence is wonderful. I also made a few little controls and a couple more functions that Besti X needed, too (controller tooltips, more performant shaders, etc...) You're always "you" in AR, but having something walking around in your room, sitting on your bed, etc... IDK how to put it; it's way more personal.

No build right now because it's missing the new calibration function in the interface, but I'll conjure that up this week and then you can tell me if you want more AR stuff. I can tell you I like it a lot, so once you can play with it in a week or two just tell me what you think. The philosophy of this cut-down build of Besti X is to get you from no headset to sex in less than 20 seconds with no pointers or complicated menus. I like that a lot, too, and having a simplified experience like this might be a better solution for a porn-specific piece of software. The nice thing is that since it's still Besti X everything I make here works everywhere else, so that's nifty!
