Solo Doodle Session (Patreon)

Some of you might have seen that I occasionally join a few artist friends for collaborative doodle sessions every now and then. They are a lot of fun, seeing how other artists work and what crazy results they can produce.

Recently though I felt like I couldn't keep up with the other artists, as my usual work routine involves me sitting down and playing around with poses and ideas before I get properly started. So to see others whip up something on the spot in a matter of minutes left me feeling like I couldn't keep up in some way - even though I know that it's not a contest whatsoever. The fun aspect dimished more and more however as it felt like being put on the spot and not being able to perform under stress. 

So when I told Asyr about it he suggested doing a doodle session on my own. Just me, with no pressure and not even the goal to publish it. So tonight I decided to take his advice and I sat down and put together my own doodle session of various ideas that had been floating around my head for the last couple of days. We have a goth femboy Rick, Mr. Wolf & Mr. Snake from The Bad Guys, Leonardo from TMNT getting his kink on, Night as a celestial entity (something that I really wanted to draw and might turn into a fullblown picture eventually because I REALLY like how it came out) as well as a few silly doodles and meme faces - bonus points for the person who can figure out where the face in the top left corner originated. Hint: It's a Garrys Mod video.

It was a really interesting experience as I never had really sat down and just doodle without restrictions. My drawing process always involved some kind of goal at the end, because I hated the thought of throwing away hours of drawing because I hadn't planned something properly. I might do more of these in the future, though definitely not as elaborate as this one, as it was quite exhausting by the end to fill the canvas. Still, definitely a practice worth exploring in the future. :3
