I figured I would save the best for last and end 2023 on a wholesome note. This picture way my Christmas present to my lovable tiger dad Asyr! It shows the Delgato family and I'll let Asyr's description from his FA upload explain the rest:

From left to right: Night Delgato, Zach Ozogdimba-Delgato, Asyr Delgato and Dayton Delgato.

It is also the first canonical depiction of Asyr's and Zach's second son and Night's younger brother Dayton, called "Diddy" (or "Dee Dee") by his family, though in his teenage years he started to ask people to call him by his full name.

If Night and Dayton are both Asyr's and Zach's sons, why aren't they tiger-gorilla-hybrids?]

Who says they aren't? Both actually carry the recessive genes of the other species inside them. In their world, genetics work like this: if two partners from different species conceive a child together, the kid will have the phenotype of the parent that carried them to term. That means that, since Night was carried by Asyr, he grew to be a tiger with recessive gorilla genes. And Dayton was carried by Zach, which means that he is a gorilla with recessive tiger genes.

So, no Lego mix-and-match genetics here. The only genes that can become dominant from the other parent's side are minor things like hair or eye colors. That's why Dayton has Asyr's blue eyes instead of Zach's green peepers.

(And Night got his pink nipples and brown hair from Asyr's dad.)

But Asyr, the gene for green eyes is actually dominant over the gene for blue eyes!

It's a fictional world where anthropomorphic animals exist and men can get pregnant. Get off my back!

How come we haven't seen Dayton so far?

He's actually existed within Night's and my personal family canon for years, we just never got around to including him in a picture until now.

Why are their bulges so small?

Because I might print out the picture to hang it up on one of our walls and we don't want to be too lewd in case non-furry guests come over. Deal with it!

This was a challenging but fun picture to put together. Especially drawing Night's brother Dayton for the first time, without asking Asyr any questions beforehand and therefore giving away the surprise of the Christmas present. We haven't entirely nailed down his personality yet, but since he is two years younger than Night, he always idolized his big brother (therefore the tiger stripes on his speedo). Night's design is also showing him in his younger years, combining both the long hair he used to have with the goatee as a nod to his current design.

It is still a far cry of having an actual canon, but if Asyr and I can focus our creative energy for 2024 to come up with more ideas for pictures that show family interactions, I'm sure we'll expand on each individual character a lot. :3

Anyway, this was my last picture for 2023. All that is left now is to put together my look back on all the art that I posted during the last 364 days!
