Here's one of the few clean pictures this year. It's a fanart of the Qunari race from the Dragon Age videogame series, depicted in the style of Dragon Age 2, which I have replayed recently.

Originally starting out as a mere sketch, as I've been digging my claws into the games again, this snowballed into something bigger than I had anticipated. However towards the end my motivation sort of petered out as I realized spending too much time on this would not really pay off, so it's less polished than some of my other works.

I originally played all the Dragon Age games right after they hit store shelves and I also planned to do so for the third game, Dragon Age Inquisition. Though for that game they no longer allowed the importing of a savegame state from the previous title, but instead have you use a website to click through all the events from previous games and also have you watch a roughly 10 minute movie explaining the events that lead up to the third part. That originally put me off so much that I never got around to playing the game properly and only recently - after knowing what I was in for - started going back to it.

Once I had begun to play Dragon Age 3 though, I realized that my memory on the events of the previous games were a little foggy, so in an impromptu decision I reinstalled Dragon Age 2 again and rushed through that. During that time I once again fell in love with the art style and it's exemplified by the Qunari. Not necessarily by their whole creed, lore or culture presented in the game, but just the visual design. It somehow spawned this idea in my mind about what a furry version of a big scale RPG game would look like where you'd go to visit each race and learn their culture. I figured a big towering race of war horses would be a cool idea to depict them in the style of the Qunari.

So I experimented with the design and recreating the armor and such. I really didn't want this going further than the sketch, with only the red parts colored in, but once my workflow gets going it's sometimes difficult to stop.

Still, I'm glad I stopped myself from going overboard here. I know this picture will not spark the same interest as some of the works I have been more passionate about, but this will still a nice change of pace for me.
