Replies to the most recent Satisfaction Survey!

I'm leaving the form open for the rest of the month too in case you want to add something based on the following replies (then I'll update this post with more Q&A) and for those who haven't left a feedback already!

✧ Q&A BELOW

"There's a lot of Updates (Sketches, Lineart, etc) on Discord and I'd think it'd be nice to see that here as well!"

Soon! Patreon has recently launched a "Community" feature which allows creators to open a group chat with their supporters - unfortunately, it is currently available on the mobile app only and I'm waiting for it to become available on browser as well (it's already been announced).

For now, you can activate notifications for the Supporters channels in my Discord server! Be sure to have Patreon and Discord linked so you can access the wip channels and contact me if you have any access issue!

"Will there be any more tutorials?"

Yes! Since when I updated my setup, I experimented a lot. I thought I had discovered amazing new techniques which would've revolutionized my art only to later downsize the use of them or completely stop. I wanted to delay any tutorial to better explore those ways I had planned to write a about so that I could eventually give a more accurate explanation!

-

"Seeing wips and getting a look into your process is super interesting, it would be cool if you ever have any art tips in regards to basically any of your technique, how long it takes you, how you take care of your hands (lol) or what tools are most helpful!"

[ For everyone: I share most of the info about a piece together with the process and files when I upload them for the (⛲) FOUNTAIN tier! I usually share is how working on an artwork made me feel, the difficulties I had and what different practices I've applied compared to the usual and the direction I'm taking. ]

I've been painting for two years now but my process is still a messy "try different stuff and see" which makes it super hard to synthetize and explain any technique - for the "cleanest" processes, I add captions to each image to explain layers one by one but at some point it's just me painting over everything until it looks good and I really can't explain that part haha
For now I've only been able to put together a solid explanation of my simpler coloring process, basically the one I use in comics - which you can find in TUTORIALS 📘 & art tips! (in particular Step-by-step TUTORIAL and Video TUTORIAL).

As for the specific question about how I take care of my hands, I'm afraid I would disappoint you because I only stretch them when they hurt and I always use the PC with a wrist support on because I suffered from a painful tendonitis on July 2021 after 1 year of drawing all day (and I mean it) so I shat in pants at the thought it would force me to stop doing art 🙈

On useful tools, reference libraries, study material and so on, I could talk more extensively (I've already mentioned a lot of stuff but it's scattered around the hundreds process posts)! As mentioned in the previous reply, additional tutorials about my techniques will eventually come too, I just need to practice my ways to finally find a logic in my chaos - in the meantime I hope the usual process posts help!

"Maybe more ships to be chosen from the monthly poll would be great but I wouldn't want you to overwork yourself either so idk"

I do sometimes keep in count the poll outcomes beyond the winner option, but my main decision factor is the inspiration I feel towards a prompt. I am sure I can do my best when I'm inspired, and I value quality of content more than the ship choice!

Lately, I've been enjoying sketching the Special Christmas Requests and I think the "I pick something from your prompts and you pick one of my doodles" is a fun mechanism that gives more chances to rare pairs/wlw/het ships too rather than drawing the 2nd and 3rd winners of the poll, while also allowing me to practice and explore something different!
I mentioned how I would like to keep doing this, but it's been working for now because I've worked on many illustrations and I'm not sure I can keep the pace with an ongoing comic in development - it surely is a direction I would like to go in!

-

"I genuinely feel that your pace is very consistent and you deliver so much! Sometimes I am shocked at the amount of things we get. Illustrations are a nice break between comics and if they help you feel more consistent (and you have fun with them), I'd say continue. The comics are also very good and lengthy I cannot see any reason to complain!!"

"The only reason I didn’t give a ten to illustrations is only because I love the comics more 🤩 (obviously they take more time but that’s not a problem I love all of your stuff)"

"Comics do take the longest but are the most rewarding, perhaps a bit more sneak peeks or access to warm up sketches / exercises like you used to do in the past (those were great and very helpful as well) would help satisfy the content hunger, but please don't feel like it's been a bad experience, I just miss having more to see but I absolutely love and respect your process and the time you spend perfectioning your art ❤️"

"You're awesome. The only way this could be better is more content but quality is always more important than quantity. <3"

"The amount that you put out is great. I'm forever greedy and want more of your art but I know you have a life outside of drawing. Keep up the good work. ❤️"

I want to thank everyone who submitted a comment in regard to the quantity over quality topic, because you always mentioned understanding that comics take a lot of time and I'm incredibly glad that you can be patient during their production - it shows you value the final result a lot! 🙇‍♂️

There is still a lot I want to explore and get better at in art, from techniques to the balance between practice, "production" (I think I lack the right term here) and breaks! This year I've improved a lot, and the improvement only makes me think about what the future holds! I'm excited to find out!!

A little reply regarding the "Comics do take the longest but are the most rewarding, perhaps a bit more sneak peeks" - I do share more sneak peeks on Discord behind a spoiler so whoever would rather wait for the whole thing to be completed can ignore the update. For Patreon, I'm always torn because on one hand I can't shut up about what I'm working on, but on the other hand I really want to surprise you with the story!! It varies from comic to comic (for some of them, I can cut previews without giving away too much) but for other it's tougher - thought I promise I'll consider sharing more wips, maybe including a warning before the most revealing previews!

-

I won't include all the quotes not to clog the post, but thank you to everyone who used the form to send words of encouragement and love and appreciation, they made me smile and I still think about them dearly! 💜

To those who asked me how I'm doing - GREAT! I have my human struggles but they are resized to *nothing* when compared to the joy I get from being able to dedicate myself to art!

There's a little big thing I don't recall ever mentioning about the impact of having a lovely community like you are - and it's that with time I started trusting your genuine (and wise) words of support telling me "you should also take time for yourself", "slowing down is useful to keep you functioning", "you deserve to take breaks"... to the point I allowed myself a more indulgent schedule and I significantly improve my relationship with art. I had spent some times obsessed with drawing more and more, because I strived to improve and because I experienced the unhealthy socmed pressure of producing content. Now I'm content with my results and I learned to recognize when it's time to quit for the day, so I can only give art my best (overworking when tired can also mean ruining a piece, stressing over it, therefore ruining your relationship with art too)!
A pretty big lesson you taught me - and one I hope can be useful to the artists among you (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ)

Sorry for any English mistake in this papyrus, it is also something I'm improving but I still have many limits as I'm not a native English speaker, I'm just content if my words make sense haha

Here just a reminder that I'm leaving the Satisfaction Survey form open until the end of the month - you can add comments or leave your feedback if you haven't!

Would have never guessed English isn't ur first language. Ur doing great kira. What's ur first language if I may ask?

I feel like for the most part, the way you run your discord and have it set up would be a fine way for your patreon. The bots on discord and rules just confuse the shit out of me i feel like a boomer

KiraShion

Would you be more specific on what you find confusing? There's always room for improvement so lmk! 🤗

KiraShion

Aaah thank you! Listening, reading and writing English on a daily basis thanks to online interactions definitely helped - the worst is still my spoken English haha My first language is Italian!
