Sometimes I'm too distracted, uninspired or stressed to study an expression before proceeding to the coloring stage. Coloring allows me to shut down the brain while hands work nearly by their own, so I'm often eager to reach that stage and rush the previous ones... which forces me to spend muuuch more time fixing all the mistakes I notice only after.
