So...?

I understand that things can get busy and you can't get the game out on time. But you can at least in the case of long standstills, sometimes let us know how things are going? Like a short update and an approximate rescheduling date? Waiting is not a problem at all, but not knowing anything about the state of an update is.

🥳🥳🥳

I agree with this, I find the game design process quite interesting so giving little descriptions of what's being worked out, even if it's just "debugging the game" would be nice

Carlos

I agree as well. As Aerith said the game development process itself is fairly interesting and could keep an audience engaged in the product. From my experience I am willing to wait because stuff like this takes time, and stuff like little descriptions do help in keeping me engaged.

In addition to what others have said here, let’s not forget that we pay a membership fee to get updates, for all the games they create, so it’s quite unfair that we’ve been left in the dark on the update for such a long time. Not to mention Khemia hasn’t seen life in, what, 9 months if not more at this point? It honestly seems like this project, or at least the creativity behind it, is dying out

Yannick

You just don't follow the stream. For Khemia, they got some health issues and they hit a bad case of writer's block. Khemia will come back after they finished Interea. Interea should be came online since some days but hey, it's common to see a group having some unexpected troubles at the last minute. It happened before and they delivered the goods after some days of delays. Not a big troubles. Arches is almost in the right tracks and Smoke Room usually comes in time. So yea they take our money but it worth it.

Carlos

nobody is mad at the delay (but of course it's a part of the problem), were just disappointed in the whole "letting the fans in the dark" aspect of it all. and 2 weeks is not "some days". but that's just how i think of it.

Anonymous

Or you know, you could... communicate with your fans, and let them know about the nature of the delay. And not keep them in the dark?

Anonymous

Pretty on the nose with these two replies here, delays happen but when there’s a community of people who financially support you, you owe them an explanation when things are delayed.

Yannick

Maybe they're the kind of people who talk when they have something to say ?

I don't even follow the Smoke Room, which has been getting their regular updates churned out, meanwhile Interea has languished with zero updates at all since June. It's now December. It's been six months.

Chris

The delay isn't even the worst of it. The massive time interval between Interea updates (an entire half a year) vs. the other Echo project VNs like the Smoke Room and Arches is a little egregious given that we're billed for what amounts to all of the VNs equally, but I do not care about all of them equally. If we're putting our money into *all* the projects, you'd think each one would be getting roughly equal content. I don't read the Smoke Room, so it's good I've grown to like Arches otherwise the content drought would be complete. And it seems like whenever something goes wrong and delays happen, the community is ghosted. "Just a few more days" has translated into "several weeks" with zero further explanation to the people who are giving you financial support. If such a huge chunk of time was needed to make the update work, was it actually close to release when it was said to or was this post just leading us on? What does it cost the devs to say "we apologize for the Interea delay, X happened and we were unable to complete the build in time for our stated release date. We expect it will be released X and keep you apprised of any further developments."

Anonymous

My impression, and what I base my support on is that the primary threads are Echo and The Smoke Room. It's the Echo Project after all. Then there's Adastra. Those seem to be the core and I suspect they're all in the same universe. The other stories are spin offs that explain things in the primary threads. It doesn't seem to me that I would have a whole picture if I wasn't following all the story lines.

Anonymous

That darkness that was explained in Interea I think has something to do with Echo and TSR

Anonymous

Might I mention that for the past few months they didn't bill us at all due to no project updates

Anonymous

Yeah, I would think so. Especially since it was emphasized that there were places in the universe that were dangerous because the Darkness is particularly active there. Of course, the Earth of Adastra is not the Earth of Echo. I guess I should have said that I thought the stories are in the same multiverse. Anyway, it makes sense to me and ties them together.

Anonymous

Maybe something bad and unforeseen happened to the author and he doesn't have the chance to let us know? 'Cause, you can't just not respond to fans after so many comments asking you about the delay, can you?

Chris

That isn't relevant to anything that I said. They did pause payments twice, because there was no content for anything for those months. But payments have resumed and literally nothing has come for Interea. It's been Arches and TSM only. Interea is the languishing project and it's the one I most care about but I am charged for all projects equally. It's been 6 months since we've had anything for Interea, the devs promised a release date over 2 weeks ago and since then nothing to explain the further delays. Highly unprofessional behaviour.

Anonymous

Well, my experience is that it's the norm. For instance, I was on the Neil Gaiman. fan site for a while. I don't remember ever seeing him on it. I think these forums are for fans to discuss their reactions to the works. In a way, I could see it as a distraction to the creators. I mean, what would be the best use of their time? Building stories, or reading and answering fans? Also, if anything, the pressure to produce would inhibit production. Consider how long movies and novels are in the production stage. If anything, I'm surprised at how quickly these VNs come out.

Anonymous

People support this project FINANICALLY. And if they promise an update and then dissapear, developers OWN supporters an explanation on why they can't release the promised content on time.

Anonymous

Yeah, I used to get into independent comic titles to have them disappear on a cliffhanger. It hasn't been long enough for me to worry about the Echo Project, though. Maybe it's because I'm following several other VNs so my itch gets scratched.
