July Update (Patreon)

Hi everybirdy! I'm on my way home after 3 weeks of travel. It's been a combination of bird research work, vacation, and, for the last 5 days, working hard on finishing Whiterock, my next bird-focused fiction novel.

First: I want you to know that rewards will resume in July, just like they were prior to June. So, if you have a tier with an art reward, you'll get an art reward. Therefore, you've got to do your part and tell me what you want! Please let me know ASAP so I can work on these gradually throughout the month vs. cramming them in the last week.

Second: *sigh*, there will be another pause in August. It's for a good reason, though, as I will be focusing on a scientific paper based on research I participated in with bald eagles, vultures, and ravens. It's good stuff but I've been unable to complete writing it for way too long. So, you will NOT be charged for August but will continue to have access to existing content.

Third: Tiers will change for September. My focus will be changing over to Whiterock for a while so that I can raise funds for paying an editor ($1200-2000) and creating swag and other things that will help promote the books (currently volume 1 is complete but there will be at least one more book in the series).

I plan to eliminate custom, individual rewards on tiers, at least for a while. However, you will still have some special privileges. This might take the form of swag (pins and art) that I make for advertising the books. It could be chances to read the books early, long before they are published. Maybe a cameo or character named after you or drawing some art inspired by Whiterock's world with your character in it. I'm open to other ideas-- we have a bit of time to decide.

To some of you, this may be an opportunity to try other artists (I sense that some of you have run out of ideas for rewards in my style anyway). That's ok. Please do not feel guilty for moving off to other Patreons. It doesn't mean you lose access to Bird Brothel either, though you will lose early access to art (e.g., Patron folders) if you move below the $5 level.

But if you decide to stay on and support Whiterock's development, I really appreciate it. And I will probably still do some random rewards for those of you at the $25 level or higher, just to mix things up and make some variety for livestreams.

Also... yes, I will entertain doing some naughty stuff for Whiterock, at least for honored Patreon supporters. There are a few scenes which I've tamed down for the book but which are ripe for art. And there are places in the world of Whiterock that are ripe for inserting characters for some adult art (e.g., the bird brothels in Lowtown).

Anyway, it should be an exciting change so I hope you stay on board. Please let me know what ideas you have. If you decide to leave, it's ok but do me the favor of letting me know why. A lot of this stuff is a guessing game so help me make the right choices.
