She used to be the original Super-Nova, a name she chose because it was just a super version of her. Thing is, she only did it for money and power the whole time, just never told anybody.

She secretly conspired with a group of alien overlords that collect planets and sold out Earth to them in exchange for all the power and riches she could ever want. The only thing they required in exchange were her services to conquer other planets. 

She ended up marrying one of those overlords and birthed a child who would become Eileen, the current day Super-Nova.
