Great reaction! I think having this knowledge really contextualized season 1 and season 2 Ayanokoji. He always told people he just wants to live a normal high school life. Even at the end of S1 where he gives that speech about always winning its because the teacher is lying and saying she'll get him expelled if he doesn't make it to Class A. Being expelled unlike every other student means he almost "dies". He goes back to a lifeless prison and who knows what would happen then? So he vows to do everything to win. Its a reason I love his character. Yes he is one really messed up person, but its not his fault. He grew up in a really cutthroat & cold environment. I love all your comments and appreciate how you notice such things as you do. Thanks!

100%. Koji literally grew up in a prison. Devoid of warmth and comfort a growing child needs for their development. He's such an interesting character.
