A savior to those lost and stranded on the near edge of the vast icy tundra, Saint surveys her snowy surroundings. If she looks a little grumpy, this is normal. She didn't inherit her mother's friendliness when it comes to client-side interfacing type stuff, but she takes her work very seriously all the same. Her collar houses radio communication hardware while her belt and harness can both carry field pouches and pull a rescue sled.

I'd be withholding if I didn't say this calls back to my own experience getting stuck on a snow drift on the ice road a few hours east of Yellowknife (something I discussed in more detail in an old FA journal). And while the miracle of satellite phones did eventually get us out of that jam, and while I'll gladly take any help I can get in such a situation, it would have been pretty sweet if it was a harness-clad arctic wolf who showed up to bring me to safety.

Since it took me so long to post this I'm including a sketch page with some of the initial drawings of her gear (along with other random stuff). Vela was the early name for Saint's fellow team member and mom, but I'm still working it out.

I like this concept, I am glad she is able to keep warm despite her nudity. Do all of your characters exist in the same universe?

They do. Not all characters have crossed paths, or ever will perhaps, but they're all living in the same world.

The way you’ve shaded her white fur is so elegant. Also, lovely work with her lean and athletic physique. It's beautiful and gives a really effective sense of how seriously she takes her work and how it’s shaped her. As always I love how you’ve worked in the matter-of-fact nudity that’s part of your world-building in a way that’s fun, but also makes perfect sense within the setting - I mean she’s already by nature perfectly suited to the cold, so why wear clothes and overheat right? It’s always enjoyable to see you explore that kind of concept. Thanks for including the sketches!

Thanks so much! I rarely get the opportunity to draw more toned characters, and it's honestly good muscle practice. I'm very fond of drawing these characters in a practical state of dress that doesn't emphasize covering certain parts -- I feel like their fur is already enough to protect them from the elements and their culture is more likely to have evolved without a nudity taboo. I'm happy that's appreciated!
