A couple months ago I got a new set of watercolors (rare thing for me), so I've been getting acquainted with them and doing some paintings on a smaller scale. Nice to have something to show for it after a number of lackluster practice paintings. This impala girl's on 5x7" coldpress watercolor board, which is a format I'm quickly falling in love with for this kind of work. The paints are great (Van Gogh half-pans) so it's more a matter of practicing to get some level of competence with them.

Otherwise, life carries on. No real change to the status quo, and it's the creative process that keeps me grounded more than anything. More likely than not, the next post will be something digital!

Stay safe, I guess in however many ways you might need to.

I really dig this too. Gorgeous colors, and they struck me before I even read the text.

She's so lovely!!!

Wow, the medium allows for incredible blending here-- nice job balancing that with retaining detail and hard edges! Beautifully done.

Thanks! That was something I focused on recently, inking my watercolor. So many approaches, but I feel I'm getting somewhere I like.

Glad you are doing well. Love how the colors blend gives shadow and grading. You certainly know your medium. Thank you for sharing.
