Suffice to say this has been one of the best episodes this show has had in a while. I love alot of episodes from season 8 but this beats them out very easily. Where to begin? Ramsay Russo: Man, am I glad they made him the villain of another story. He was so very interesting in season 6 and was just as interesting this time around. Also love that the episode used Ramsay and Wally's similar experiences to have Ramsay successfully take over Wally. That's some legitimately clever usage of a character's history over the course of the show. Also loved that he went full Bloodwork towards the end there. Wally West: Heck yeah, Wally's back! I am so happy we saw Wally again this last season. This' the stuff I talked about one or two episodes back. Focus your filler episodes on the Flash family. To give Wally a story which was reflective of his entire journey in the Arrowverse so far was a beautiful send-off, imo. Also loved the little Bloodbrother-Wally vs Barry scene we got. The few speedster fights we had so far over this season really have that "short but sweet" vibe. Also man, that scene where Wally was taken over and killed Barry was damn good. The anger coming from Wally. The shock of Barry getting killed. Magnificent. Oliver Queen: The Green Arrow returned when we needed him most. A crossover to beat all crossovers from pure emotion alone. To have Barry debue in an Arrow episode 10 years prior to this one and then have Oliver make his final send-off in the last season of the Flash... well to quote the great George Lucas "It's like poetry, it rhymes". All the interactions between Oliver and Barry as well as Oliver and Diggle just gives every Arrowverse fan happy tears, it's inevitable. The Arrowverse really had something special with Barry and Oliver and this episode did that bond justice. Speaking of which. I'd slap myself silly, if I didn't talk about that last scene at the bar. To have Oliver, almost verbatim, recite the speech he gave Barry in the pilot episode and to definitively say, with the knowledge of the Spectre, that the lightning bolt did indeed choose Barry, just as Oliver thought all those years ago. Tears man. Literal tears. Onto some fun facts: This episode was directed by Danielle Panabaker, which is why Khione only makes very scarce appearances throughout. This btw includes the sick fight scene Oliver had with Bloodwork's Bloodbrothers. The fandom was aware of Oliver and Wally's return for literal months before this episode aired. The hype surrounding this was huge. But man, what I wouldn't give to have come into this episode as blind as you did. At the end Oliver and Barry talk about how Barry saved Central City a solid 180 times. This is a reference to how this episode was the 180th episode of the Flash, with the show ending on 184 total episodes. So. I've said just about enough to satisfy my little nerdbrain. I cannot reiterate enough how happy I am that this episode exists. While objectively one very good episode can't counteract 8 mediocre to bad ones, I just can't be mad at this season after this episode. I just physically can't. For all the bad stories and characters to have happened in the Arrowverse, episodes like this one make going through all that worth it again to me. This felt like the reward for being there from the beginning.

Surprised this doesnt have the favorite tag. This is definetely one of the best episodes in the series imo. The 170 actually 180 joke was a meta joke at how many episodes arrow and the flash had. This single episode just proved that they can still make truly amazing episodes and they still give us all the crap this season. If the entire season had this high of quality, it would be looked at as the best season which would be an incredible feat since season 1 and 2 are perfection. This episode i would say matched that quality or even are better than alot of episodes from it. Its just so frustrating to see great potentional from one masterpiece of an episode but then they never show it. Its like they say "Lets have one great episode to show them were good and then the rest be shit" I just cant stress it enough how much i love this episode. It makes me worried that our expectations are gonna be too high now and be disappointed when they dont come out this good. I also felt like this episode was more cinematic. The entire episode was just perfect on so many levels. Sorry for being all over the place, just want to share the love i have for it. If this is what Eric Wallace did the entire time than he would have been the best showrunner, sadly he decided to do what he wants instead of what we want. This is once again proof that hes a good showrunner when he wants to be but most of the time hes making the show for himself instead of the fans. Which sucks, season 6a was truly a return to form until 6b. Great episode and makes me sad the show is ending. I just want more great episodes like this 😭

Finally a good episode!!! (Minus the premiere which I enjoyed) This is the kind of episode that is worthy of being in a final season. If you didn't catch it, Oliver's final words to Barry in the bar was a callback to The Flash's pilot episode, where Barry met with Oliver. I agree. This story should've been it's own arc, instead of those 3 filler episodes. Off the top of my head (I'm writing this from the mindset of only seeing episodes 1-9), 1st episode of the arc: discover the multiverse exists again. 2nd and 3rd episodes: explore the multiverse, where we could see characters like Leo Snart, Jessie Quick, Harry, etc. on their respective Earths, if they're still alive. A storyline for Mark could've been seeing an alternate Earth's version of Frost, like in season 2 and dealing with that along with his grief. These episodes could've been a tribute to season 2 where they visited Earth-2 (similar to Arrow doing a tribute to a season in some episodes of Season 8). Have the final and 4th episode of the arc be where Ramsay discovers it, and Oliver gets involved due to the multiverse being at risk. I feel like that would've been a better use of time than the previous 3 episodes. Prior to this episode, I felt the major cameos of Season 9 were reminding me of the writing for Crisis, spending more time on cameos than making sure the story is good. I'm so happy you avoided spoilers on Stephen's return in this episode. Everyone didn't care about spoilers this season, so set photos and behind the scenes photos from this episode were released during the time of filming. Even the cast posted behind the scenes photos during filming. I recently met Stephen at a con and had a great time meeting him as well.

Seems like everyone else already said what there is to say. I'll just say that no, I won't be leaving when the Arrowverse is done in a couple weeks, because you still have other shows I watch, not to mention selections.

I love this episode seeing Barry and Oliver again together was perfect

WHERE THE HELL HAS THIS WRITING BEEN ALL SEASON??? It wasn't the best episode writing ever but as you said, this episode's writing actually made it seem like they cared. I don't remember where I heard this but it like they woke up and remembered this was the final season. This is the first episode that felt worthy of being in the final season. So glad Stephen came back to help give a send off to the Arrowverse. I cried when he recited the "Guardian Angel" + "The lightning bolt chose you" line from the pilot too. This was the one thing I knew about this season which sucks for me. Glad you weren't spoiled.

Not much to say that hasn't been already said. Amazing episode. Only issue I have with it is the placement. I am watching along with you Shan, so I have not idea what's to come in the next 4 episodes but I can't help but feel they will be a disappointment after this one. This really should have been a part of the final arc.

Havent watched the ep yet. Just saw you reading last eps comments.... so thought I'd explain this while its fresh in my head.... its a bit of a read. The reason theres "filler episodes" is so they have the money available to do bigger episodes. To make the bigger, more CGI heavy, and GUEST STAR heavy episodes, you need to have filler episodes. Without them, theres less episodes for you to take money out of, to put into those episodes. If they only did like 10 episodes, there would be no money for them to bring in the guest stars you saw in this episode, etc.... because they have a smaller pool of money to work with. Studios dont care if you spend 10% of the budget on 10 episodes, and 90% on the final 3, long as they get the amount of episodes they ordered out of you. To put it in super easy numbers. Lets say each episode costs $1. They give you $13 for the whole season, but they expect 13 eps for it. If you came to them and said "we are going to do just 10 eps" they arent suddenly going to say "okay, keep the extra $3", your budget is going to be just $10 for 10 eps. With only 10 episodes, that means you have less episodes to siphon money out of, to pad the budget for the final episodes. Basically, some episodes they made for 40-70 cents, and some episodes are costing them $1.25 to $1.75, without those 40-70 cent eps, they wouldnt have the $ to make those $1.25 to $1.75 episodes. For the record, I thought all 3 filler eps were anywhere from poor to THE. WORST! But I get why they had slower episodes. Awful choices yeah. But choices were limited.

Your reaction to Oliver appearing on screen was spectacular. His, David, Keiynan, and Sendhils role in the episode had been announced a few days before they were going to shoot this episode, because they knew they were going to be doing that big outdoor scene with the 4 of them fighting. So most everyone who keeps up on whats going on knew ahead of time. Really cant wait to see your reaction to the next episode.

A great episode? Wow! I wish there was more of those. Some people would say 2/9 good episodes so far is fine, those people are named Eric Wallace and shouldn't have their opinion taken seriously. Hopefully the next episodes are also good.

James

Eric should only be a writer and have a more competent showrunner run the show. They should have brought in a new showrunner for season 9 to make this last season actually good. At least it would make season 7 and 8 worth it if the final season was amazing

FOR Shannan: 1. YEAH! They didn't even play Catan correctly ...And you're right ...There's MANY ways to play it (just not the way THEY played it) .....The best way is the YOLO way ...I've won MANY games by using my patented YOLO strats ..............Ok while I'm typing this you're going on a full on rant on the rules of Catan ...I'mma rewind this several times cause this is hilarious as FUCK. 2. You couldn't understand and tried replaying the scene.... Wally said to Barry: "May your current rotation around the sun be your best yet" 3. Nice gift but yeah... Not sure what Barry would need a bow for .....Also ....And I can't be arsed to check ....I'm pretty sure the Arrow statue in the Hangar Of Justice has a bow on it ...Why not just put it there? ...I mean that's pretty much what Barry suggest anyways 4. Ofcourse... Barry's birthday wouldn't be Barry's birthday if we didn't focus on Chester feeling the need to take this moment and also give Allegra something .....Cause gawd forbid she might feel left out 5. Ok? Allegra gets a facial transmogrifier or whatever... How about an actual suit though ......I mean.... I bet it's STILL better than Alex's identity covering eyeshadow 6. I dunno about you Froots... But IF I were to throw a party ...I would ONLY want my closest friends/family there ....So in my opinion ...Barry's party is kinda crowded 7. Alternate timelines??? Who wrote this shit?! Alternate timelines are LITERALLY just alternate Earths if you think about it logically.. Logical thought.. A quality that this writer obviously is lacking ...Alternate timelines and alternate Earths are NOT 2 different things! ...The Flash movie tried to sell this shit too! ....I'm glad I know Oliver is showing up later in this episode and will tell Barry about the multiverse cause I'm really hoping this whole "alternate timeline" bullshit won't stick ....Just call it what it is! It's the multiverse! 8. Last time we saw Mohinder was in Season 6... Mirror Kamilla committed suicide to get him out of his cage in A.R.G.U.S. then he asked what Mirror Iris wanted ...She said she wanted to be human ....Mohinder admired her honesty ...Gave her a blood sample and then got back in his cage instead of escaping and said he had other plans .......Not sure how he's all of a sudden free now but I guess they MIGHT explain it 9. I dunno why.... But I FEEL like Wally wouldn't be so easily influenced by Mohinders mind tricks ...He's been studying bhudism and all that stuff... I feel like he'd have an insane control over his own mind and would just be shrugging all this mind control stuff off 10. Yeah sure let's just speedster past the question of HOW the fuck zombie Allegra even got into the room where Chester was hiding ....Did she sneak through some vents?? An explanation would be nice! 11. Yeah I'mma just throw this out there ...If all the water in your body would get insta-frozen ...You'd be super-dead .....I meaaaaann... We're talking about a superhero show here so I'mma suspend my disbelief ....But yeah ....Khione just killed all of Team Flash and is feeling super chill about it 12. Again I feel like they picked the wrong speedster to infect ....Wally is supposedly a frikkin monk or whatever now so inner peace should be one of his biggest strengths ...The fact that HE got taken over by Mohinder doesn't make sense ...They should've brought back some more characters and then maybe have Nora or Bart have been the one to be taken over 13. Yeah Diggle ...Your brightest days are ahead of you ...You get to be a boring normal human being with a bunch of whiney little kids .....Instead of the hero that you wanted to be .....Such a nice ending for his character /sarcasm 14. Ok that was lame ...Barry is saying that he's saved the city 180 times ...Referencing that 9x09 was the 140th episode ....But Froots.... We both know daaaaaaamn well that Barry hasn't been in EVERY episode 15. All in all best episode of the entire Season but then again ....Not much is needed to make it the best ....Sadly I already knew Oliver was gonna show up cause actors don't give 2 shits about spoilers ...But rather me than you ...It's YOUR profession that requires you to give people a genuine reaction ....I'm happy to be able to keep you safe

2023-08-02 07:30:39 It would have great to have Kara in episode since its Barry's birthday. I feel the Trinity never got a proper send off in crisis. The Red Death arc and this have my favorites this season, just because of the familiar faces. Also I'm glad that Oliver isn't actually dead. I would give anything to have an Arrow Season 9 with him as the Spectre.
