Two things that remained a constant with Rumple is that he never wanted his kids to follow in his footsteps and he always wanted the real thing. He never wanted to magically force someone to love him or use it to take his grief away. He may have tried to force or convince Belle to love him again, but he always wanted it to be her choice. An example is when they rewrote reality, the writer offered him a reality where Neal was never born so he wouldn't feel the grief, but he chose to keep it as it was a symbol of the love he had for his son. But, I do agree that Rumple's constant back and forth got old, but at the end of the day, I'm just happy he's redeemed because I've always routed for it and felt bad for him. I think you'll enjoy Rumple a lot more in season 7.

Disney15ish

Personally my biggest issue with this season is that it was overstuffed. They tried going back to the S1-2 style storytelling of mini interconnect arcs throughout entire season instead of the half season structure of S3-5 but it didn't feel as natural as the earlier seasons: Jekyll and Hyde only lasted 4 episodes. Also remember how the season started with the Land of Untold Stories? That whole plotline was dropped and that land didn't get any mention after they introduced Captain Nemo The major parts I did like about this season is when they had some more focus on Henry/Emma relationship that the show basically started with that I feel the show had sidelined the past few seasons

You know, this might've been a pretty good, even great, finale, if the season, or even seasons, building up to it weren't so... underwhelming, to say the least. Honestly, I kinda like the Season 3A ending better for a series finale. It was a much more interesting and poignant ending. I guess they wanted an ending that was more, "Happily Ever After", which I can understand. It's probably more in keeping with the series' overall motif. But still...

Reflecting back, I think I still would've been ok with Rumpel, even post-Season 3. Mostly. He was on a slow and steady decline for me from that point on up until this finale, which I think could've worked, if his arc wasn't so rocky. I think it was interesting to have one of the villains remain a more morally ambiguous figure as opposed to a full 180 reversal arc, which we already got with Regina. I want to believe in Rumpel. And I want to believe in him and Belle. But I concede that they could've and should've handled his arc better. It wouldn't even need an extensive re-write. Just some bits here and there.

What I said about this finale already notwithstanding, they might've gone a bit overboard with the parallels and callbacks to the first season. Especially with that epilogue. I see how it could've worked. Kinda. But it came off as a bit too... hokey.

If this were almost any other kind of show, I would almost completely, and without argument, agree with you that that last scene, trying to call back to the beginning in its finale, would've felt too frustratingly repetitive and most TV finales should probably avoid doing something like that. But because this is a show about fairy tales, I don't feel... AS frustrated with it. Don't get me wrong, it does feel TOO similar to the series beginning, and that's one of the main reasons why it probably doesn't work. But I feel like there's a cyclical nature to myths and fairy tales, an echoing of certain tropes and storylines, that, if this were any other kind of show, wouldn't feel justified. But here, it kinda does. That's probably why I didn't feel as frustrated as most others when they did it in, say, The Force Awakens, because Star Wars has a very mythological and fairy tale feel to it. Another problem with the epilogue is that it kinda messes with Henry's character. He's supposed to be "The Truest Believer", the one with the heart to keep believing even over the Saviour. But even then, there's an opportunity here to tell a kind of Toy Story/Peter Pan-like story, where when someone grows older, no matter how much of a child-at-heart they might've been, adulthood eventually catches up with you, leaving a hole in the world created by adult cynicism that the newer and younger generation has to fill. We'll have to wait and see what they do next season, I guess...

Personally I’m a fan of Rumple still. I don’t care about the backsliding in his case like I might with some other characters because it’s important to remember The Dark One is its own character. So some of the problems with Rumple going back and forth stem from that. Rumple and The Dark One going back and forth. The saying may be cliche but it’s 100% true that “absolute power corrupts, absolutely” and Rumple was The Dark One longer than every other Dark One COMBINED. So honestly it’s not at all surprising that Rumple struggled so much more than Regina and even Zelena at redemption. And also not that surprising he took the power back in 5A He was more or less possessed by the most powerful evil in the entire series for hundreds of years. His 5A backpedal is pretty understandable when you think about how naked you’d feel without something you relied on for that long. And Rumple is an addict. That’s right. The show was doing Willows season 6 storyline this whole time. And I’d argue a bit better. Because it had 6 seasons instead of part of 1 season they showed a much better glimpse of addiction and recovery. Relapse is extremely common. And really if you think about it The Darkness is the main villain of the show. And it’s also the strongest. Series villain list and how The Dark One is involved. Season 1 Regina. Trained and manipulated by The Dark One. Season 2A Cora. Trained by The Dark One. Season 2B Greg and Tamara (so really Pan). No connection to The Dark One Season 3A Pan. No connection to The Dark One. His connection to Rumple is irrelevant to Rumple being The Dark One. Season 3B Zelena. Trained and rejected by The Dark One. Villainous plan involves showing The Dark One she would have done season 1 better than Regina. Season 4A Ingrid. Had prior dealings with The Dark One but wasn’t focus of plan. Season 4B Rumple. Is The Dark One. (argue Queens of Darkness all you want. Rumple was the leader. He’s main villain) Season 5A The Dark One. All of them. Season 5B Hades. No connection to The Dark One. Season 6A Evil Queen. Since this is still Regina… see season 1. Season 6B Fiona. No connection to The Dark One. Same as Pan. Relation to Rumple isn’t relevant to The Dark One. Season 7… 🤫 Ok. 6 seasons and The Dark One was the main villain of 1 season (4B-5A) and the secondary villain of 2 and a half seasons (1, 2A, 3B, 6A). That’s more than half of the entire show. And counting minor villainous acts in the rest gets you EVERY season. Now it is mostly Rumple and not the other Dark Ones, but it’s always Rumple as The Dark One. For any point where he isn’t The Dark One, Rumple isn’t one of the villains. Pre Dark One flashbacks he’s a good man. Bit of a coward but not as bad as it’s made out to be. Season 5A he’s blank slate neutral for most of it then The Dark One again for 1 episode. And that’s it. At no point whatsoever do we have mortal Rumple as a villain. Whereas The Darkness is only not a villain when it’s Emma. And even she was far more villainous than normal Emma. Just savior magic fighting a battle it was really struggling with that kept her from full on villain. Emma not caving all the way is not about her strength of character. She had a mountain of light magic in there holding it back as best it could. All this to say I always liked Rumple. I understand the complaints but I feel his case is a lot less black and white than any other character would be. Rumbelle though… not a fan. Love Belle. She’s fantastic. But she gave him way too many chances.

1. Yeah so Chris tried to covertly ask for my opinion on how to deal with informing you on this by giving some examples of other shows.. He didn't want to spoil me since I watch this show with you.. But with the task of keeping you safe.. Some things always get through to me.. Mostly thanks to the wonderful people in the comment section on YouTube.. And I put 2 and 2 together.. I'm glad you chose to read Chris's warning and I hope you enjoy this 2 parter.. Which may or may not shake things up.. I don't know any plot specifics 2. (You weren't happy with how the pink shampoo barely made your hair any more pink) I mean.. Look.. Little Miss Glass Half Empty.. Yes the pink in your hair does look like you got it at your former hairdresser.. BUT.. You do HAVE pink in your hair.. And I think you look beautiful regardless.. Yeah I said it.. Fight me.. You won't 3. Yeah they even stated in that special scene that Mordred was one of the knights of the round table... We had like a whole frikkin season about Arthur and them knights... Where was our boy Spike at!?!! ....IF... And that's a GHUUUGGGEE IIIIFFFFF!!! it does end up in Season 7... Then.. Mah bad... But from what all I could tell it was made FOR the Season 5 DVD specials 4. Me thinks Black Fairy saw Season 1 and is trynna pull off a Regina... How about you be more original gurl?? 5. Wait hold up... GHWAT!?!? Sooo... Black Fairy is wiping out other realms??? I mean... I know the cloud that was coming from the clocktower was black and all those realms turned black... But... Replace it with red for a moment ....I'll give you a second ......You figured it out??? .....CRISIS ON ENCHANTED EARTHS!!! 6. I'mma call bullshit on Emma doing pull-ups on her bed like that... Not that I don't believe she could do it.. NOT AT ALL... It's the fact that physics.. Gravity and whatnot would TOTALLY make that bed fall over while she's hanging on it.. And also me thinks insane asylums would probably bolt beds to the floor for some reason 7. Nope... No.. Nu-uh... NO. ...No fucking way Hook is climbing up that thing with only 1 hand.. Can you imagine going up a ladder only being able to use 1 hand? ...Now imagine a chaotic looking thing like that reaching ALL the way up into the clouds and you're only able to use one hand... AS.... FUCKING... IF... A person with 1 hand would be able to succesfully climb up that bish... ... puts finger up waving it around... HEEEELLLLL TO THE NAW!!! 8. The episode ended abruptly since you wanted me to seperate 2 parters into 2 seperate episodes.. Next time I'll add some end credits to whatever needs to be seperated 9. GET.... THE ABSOLUTE... FUCK... OUTTA HERE.. WITH THAT SHIT!!! I like Hook.. Sure.. BUT... Ain't no FUCKING WAY in ENCHANTED HEEELLLLL... This 1 handed.. Leather wearing mothertrucker survived THAT big of a fall from that beanstalk!! ...Nu-uh.. NO.. NOPE. ...I can't even with this right now.. Magic carpet saving him.. THAT would have worked... But a bunch of twigs and leaves??? Nah bish 10. Me thinks Rumple was "in league" with Black Fairy cause Rumple always looks out for himself.. So if making everyone believe he's working with Black Fairy is what gets him closer to what HE wants.. Then he'll lie his ass off to get it and will double cross everyone in the process ..That's who Rumple is 11. So if this version of Storybrooke was made up by Black Fairy.. Why did she need to go to Rumple's shop to look for her wand exactly??? Wouldn't that shit already be in her possession? 12. You paused to read the letter... I'm sitting here waiting for the moment you unpause and one of them just reads out the letter ...Ah ok didn't happen here.. But maybe later in the episode they still will ...added after... Alright they didn't.. What was the purpose of the letter? 13. PSSSHH... Yeah... Connor just killed Emma... Sure ...added a minute later... Yup.. Didn't believe that for a second ...Didn't even have a stab wound yeah 14. All these worlds are restored... Me.. I'm sitting here waiting to see the Kent Farm 15. Yeaaahh.. Belle is a bit of a naïve dumbass for forgiving him SO MANY times 16. What is this!? The beginning of Season 1?!!? They just gender flipped Kid Henry AND Emma!
