One of the pictures on Courtney's bulletin board is of her superimposed with Courtney Elizabeth Johns, the late sister of Geoff Johns, who was both the showrunner of the show and creator of the Stars And S.T.R.I.P.E comic book where Stargirl came from. She died in a plane crash in 1997 and when he started writing Stars And S.T.R.I.P.E, he based Stargirl off of his sister in her memory

Yeah, no. He didn't die. The show just didn't use him after that episode. And the actor was also regular in the show "Power" at the time, so maybe it was always ment to be just a couple of episodes. And the beating that Brick gave him, was just to write him out. But he didn't die. If he did, someone would've mentioned it. Laurel would've definitely mention it.

You're right Shan the Justice eps of Smallville were great back in the day when they aired. I was a Smallville Superfan back then and kids these day taken for granted all the crazy stuff we get with the Arrowverse now.

Thanks for finally reacting to one of my current favorite Arrowverse shows.

Well Mike is the son of Pat and not of Barbara so of course he wants him to call him dad. Also we saw Jay´s helmet on the ground in the beginning of the episode where they had the fight.

This is my first time watching this show and I actually really enjoyed it! I completely agree with what you said about it feeling like a movie, too. Definitely gave off that vibe.

love the fact that star girl was an action comic character and they used an action movers truck in the first episode as a dedication to the fact that it was an action comic character.

By this time the cw and HBO max did a deal that’s why any shows from the cw this point further has a bigger budget

Disney15ish

The reason this show is longer and has a bigger budget than the other shows is because this first season was a DC Universe show (alongside Titans, Doom Patrol) but they made a deal to air it on CW the day after an episode released on DC Universe. Then, CW renewed the show after DC Universe fizzled out.

Now without any spoilers just a heads up... since this show was meant to produced by DCUniverse streamimg services, the CW made a deal which has it side effects. As CW series are only limited to around 40 - 43 minutes per episodes, they have to cut scenes by scenes, so if any scene felt out of place that may be the reason. There isn't a longer version as they also cut short for those who watch it on DCUniverse service.

i love this episode, pat's so good excited to see the rest of the show reactions also courtney whitmore is based on geoff johns' real life sister, courtney johns, who died in a plane crash. in the comics, courtney started off as star-spangled kid and pat was the sidekick to sylvester pemberton, the original star-spangled kid who later became skyman. courtney became stargirl when the current starman, jack knight retired and handed the cosmic staff over to courtney. jack is omitted from most adaptations due to rights issues so most adaptations skip star-spangled kid entirely and just make sylvester starman. anyway, excited for legends next week!

My only knowledge of Stargirl and the society comes from Legends of Tomorrow, they were one of my favourite parts of season 2. Great episode, i'm glad you enjoyed the pilot.

Starman didn’t want Pat to take the mantle because the entire JSA was just killed off. He didn’t want that for his friend. Especially since Pat had a young child at home to take care of.

The visual effects used on this show had never been used on a tv show before. It had only been previously used in movies. Johns had previously used the techniques on Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Shazam.

I'm so happy that you've finally gotten to the point of reacting to this show. For the most part I've liked the Arrowverse, but to tell the truth I never really loved any of the shows other than Supergirl. In the comics, I don't really care for Barry (I'm a Wally fan), never have given a thought to Green Arrow (Clint is my favorite archer), and well, Legends is fun but it's always been kind of the "B-Team" of the Arrowverse. My favorite stuff is Superman and the Legion (obviously) but the JSA is right there with them. So, a show that centers itself around that corner of the DCU makes me very happy. I hope you enjoy it.

Their home in California was a multifamily home probably divided into 4 identical apartments, 2 units upstairs and 2 down.

Patrick - Excelsior

Loved all the Justice Society appearances right in the opening scene. Wildcat, Hourman, Captain Midnight, and Jay Garrick (or at least his helmit).

David Brown

The actor playing Brainwave was a Chronicom on Agents of SHIELD. He was the one hunting Fitz during Season 6. The opening scene took place at Christmas time. If you hadn't done an Arrowverse Week, you were originally scheduled to watch this the week before Christmas.
