She was a co-winner because her score was better going into the games, If I have it correctly. And yes, the guy in the beginning was the Rus, you remembered correctly. I liked it episode, they do put a lot of events into one episode, but it never feels crowded, which is a real skill to pull off.

I'm going to get this a bit wrong I'm sure, but in the tournament you get 1 point for a win, 1/2 a point for a draw and zero for a loss. They said Benny had 2 draws, so he was down a full point going into this game. If Beth wins, she wins the tournament. If Beth draws, she's still up 1/2 a point so she wins the tournament. If Beth loses the game, they tie overall in the tournament and they co-win.

She lost the the game so they draw the tournament. She had the opportunity to draw the game and then she would have won the tournament, but she wanted to win. And the guys shared a hotel room with only one bed.
