It was not Conrad's trial, it was his bail hearing. They are normally quite short because the only thing to decide is whether someone is allowed to await their trial in freedom or not. And if any form of bail will be set. I think I have heard you make the same mistake in others hows. Mistaking a bail hearing for a trial. I am happy as well that Aiden is dead, but the way you cheered made me feel a bit uncomfortable. I mean I totally understood why you were happy, but the way you were celebrating (his) murder. I am not sure what to think about that (besides the partial uncomfortable feeling) Yes, a metal shovel to the head will cause someone some degree of harm. But it doesn't have to be deadly. I guess you watched too many TV shows to think that hitting someone with a shovel will always kill that person. However, Victoria should have a bigger wound on her head. I think you are overreacting when it comes to the fact that David is alive. The other characters you're right about. But it turned out he was alive after three entire seasons and that's not the same as someone coming back the next season of a half-season later. Furthermore, regarding your rant regarding Conrad's murder. You would have killed him as well if he had hurt you in so many ways. The emotion of taking revenge for that by killing Conrad would be more powerful than thinking about what the justice system could do to him. Also, we saw how easy Conrad escaped, so it's unlikely he would have spent a lot of time in prison. The psychiatrist is only doing whatever she can to survive. It has nothing to do with doing the right thing. At first, Victoria threatened her and forced her to do things and now the tables have turned and Emily is the one pulling the psychiatrist's strings. And the psychiatrist knows that doing the right thing might very well lead to her losing everything (including her life). And so she continues the charade.

That was not the whole trial, just the bail hearing. Conrad was denied bail so he has to stay in jail during the trial. If he was found guilty he would be transferred to max security prison. These two episodes are my favorite.

I think this is another show drastically harmed by such a long season Every season of this show has started strong and gotten lost in the middle with twists and side plots This season could have outright dropped entire side plots like emily's amnesia or jacks real mom.
