That's pretty much what every persons mind does. I understand the arc frustration and even somewhat agree, but ironically the way they took it was more realistic. An argument could be made they shouldn't have made it more realistic for the sake of the story but that's a different conversation entirely.

And to be clear. Iris still put the power dampening chip in Nora. That wasn't false. Just the memory here. So Iris absolutely still has that part of her arc from this season. Just not this specific memory.

When Team Flash was ice skating, Caitlin was wearing Killer Frost's Bombshells sweater/jumper. The newspaper was originally founded in 2021, now it's moved up to 2019. Things are happening sooner than they were originally supposed to.

Honestly, the idea of child perception exaggerating a negative memory of a parent is an interesting idea, at least in my opinion. But, once again, the show messed up by having the real "true" memory fall too far on the opposite extreme. It's something the show loves to do, I've noticed.

And this episode made me realise even more how much the show seems to idolise Iris, how Barry seems to worship her. Heck, most of the 3rd season was about making sure that she didn't die, even if it meant contemplating ethically and morally questionable actions like time travel and theft of dangerous tech. It seems like the only times Iris (or any kind of character that they want to be especially strong and empowering) was allowed to seem flawed was when she thought that way about herself, which is kinda lame.

Well I think they talked about the other Cicada in her future. Remember Wells told them whos Cicada but then they mentioned that Nora changed the timeline so now someone else is Cicada. So maybe this Cicada is not as good as the real one in her future? Idk. But actually I like this villain. I like the idea of a person only hunting metas because he thinks they are all bad and he is doing it for the kid and not for himself. Well yeah they need better fights between team Flash and Cicada to show us why he is unstoppable because every fight feels the same.. him flying away like Thor 😅 but yeah I really like this big bad

I agree with you about Iris. She even talks like she is perfect.. "There was probably a good reason why I put this chip in you" "I know I wasnt as bad as you thought. You were probably just angry"... I have to say I like season 1-3 Iris much more than now.. In season 4 she was so annoying.. I mean she was a reporter but for some reason she became the boss of star labs.. well ok thats weird but I can accept that.. but it was soo annoying how she yelled at everyone.. at Cisco, Wally, Caitlin and even at Barry.. For me season 4 Iris was more annoying than season 4 Felicity. Probably a unpopular opinion because many people hate Felicity but I actually never hated her.

But that is what happens in real life. Go have a conversation with someone about a negative event from your childhood. I guarantee everyone will have different memories based on how it made them feel. I recently caught up with a childhood friend and we were talking about a Little League playoff game we played in together. That game was one of my favorite baseball memories as a kid. He hated that memory and that game was why he quit playing baseball. His version of that game doesn't even come close to how I remember it. It's funny the tricks your mind plays on old memories.

Nora's changing memories are part of a "Flashpoint" she has created. There is the original future in which Cicada is David Hersch, but Nora's interference (at the satellite punch) changed it to American Pie (Orlin) instead. Nora's personal "Flashpoint" she has created has affected Iris. By warning her of the overcontrolling and abusive mother she becomes (as a result of Barry "vanishing" ) Nora has caused her to commit to not letting that future happen. This has now resulted in a different timeline. When Barry and Iris entered inside her memories, the memories in which they were seeing was the life of Nora in the original timeline, They eventually recognised this and then saw the new revised timeline (Iris good mother). The memory they witnessed (Iris bad mom) is from the original timeline, the "true" memory they later see is from the revised timeline that Nora created.

Yeah, I can say this now because you are far enough into the season. I'm really not a fan of Nora. As you have seen, it seems like most of the danger the team gets in is because of her making a dumb ass decision. Like this episode, they spent the entire time in the Matrix/framework, because of what she did. The writing is really off. As you said, it started out decent enough this season but it is for sure in a downward spiral. Not gonna say how it all turns out but if this were the season finale or penultimate ep, it would be a disappointment to say the least.

Sherloque haven't cracked the case yet, and Iris did kinda threatened him last episode to lay off of Nora. So my man is taking his time with it, collecting all the puzzle pieces to put it all together, before confronting Nora. Why are you laughing at The Red Death? It's evil Batman with Flash powers, that is super scary)

I think she was laughing at Cicada having a higher kill count than Zoom

2021-07-09 10:41:49 Cicada's kill count is compiled over the course of many years. Zoom was only on Earth -1 for about 1 year or a little less. Just something to consider. Cisco & Caitlin agreed that the cure would be a choice. Barry never made that agreement.

Yeah, the real memory needed some more nuance, cause any sane parent would probably be a bit angry in such a situation, simply because they were scared for their child. Although it could be argued that the tensions between Iris and Nora only really started to emerge when Nora was older (early to late teens), Iris in the real memory seems to just not actually care that her kid was missing and comes off more like how someone, who's never seen a concerned parent, thinks a concerned parent is like.

Honestly the whole fake memory thing seems to stem from a misunderstanding of how the human mind warps memories. People's memories are warped through exaggeration of what actually happens, because of the emotions connected to said memory, instead of what we saw here, where memories include entirely made up events (in this case Iris being overly mad despite not being mad at all in the real memory).
