In regards to your confusion about the backstory, you did hear correctly when Maleficent talked about king Stefan & Briar Rose because in the OUAT version of Sleeping Beauty Maleficent had first used the sleeping curse on Briar Rose, Aurora’s mother, then she used it on Aurora. Also, the other thing that may have caused your confusion was the names. There are many different versions of Sleeping & the princess’s name has varied from one adaptation to another. The most well known versions are Perrault, Brothers Grimm, & Disney which are relatively similar as the Brothers Grimm & Disney’s versions were influenced by Perrault’s adaptation. Getting back to my comment on the variations of the names used in each of the adaptations, in Perrault’s story the princess(“sleeping beauty”) had no name but her daughter was named Aurore, the Brothers Grimm named her Briar Rose, & the Tchaikovsky’s ballet & Disney’s version her name is Princess Aurora, however in the Disney movie she was renamed Briar Rose when raised in the woods by the three fairies. And as you know in OUAT her name is Aurora & her mother’s name is Briar Rose(as we found out in this episode). I love that OUAT used the name Briar Rose for Aurora’s mother in honor of the name they gave Aurora while in hiding in the Disney movie & her(sleeping beauty) name in the Brothers Grimm story.

I had honestly never given it much thought either! Even though I don't always agree with her, that's one thing I like about ASR's reactions- she has such a good memory/keen eye for attention to detail that I usually leave with new tidbits and trivia at the end of the reactions.

I mean, let's also remember too that when Mr Gold tried entering the town without the scroll the town just wasn't there, it's highly possible that the town simply isn't there when the train passes through and to the people on the train it's just hills and woods.

You're too focused on the small pointless details, like the passing train and other little things 🙂 I found out that when I stay focused on the main points of what the story is trying to tell me, I realized I don't really care about the small inconsistencies anymore. Actually, I barely notice them. Only thing that annoys me about the show is when the show's writers make some of the actors make dumb decisions that would never occur in real life. That's the part that bothers me more than small inconsistencies, etc. 🙂
