Really good episode. Glad to see batroc the keeper back from the winter soldier film. Bucky’s story of atonement was really emotional and well done. I really like the subtle racial aspect to Sam’s story too and how it will progress

I actually thought the closeups in the therapist scene was brilliant cinematography. It helped sell what Bucky is going through.

Nice reaction. I get the toned down excitement for this one after Wandavision. I think this one did pretty good for a first episode still. Lots of dry foundation laying for 2 characters, but plenty of sweet movie grade action. i'm picking up on some tension between the 2 as well. Bucky has been ignoring Sams calls. Also, when Sam was talking to that solder that had his head kicked in, and the guy tried to ask him if he thought it was a someone, but Sam interrupted him. I'm thinking they were talking about Bucky. Maybe possibly. As for Bucky getting the shield rather than Sam, I get what you are getting at. To me it seemed odd initially as well. But when you look back at things, even though they don't show Sam and Steve together for large periods of time, they basically were in each other's pocket for years. Plus Bucky was the enemy for a while, had his head messed up, and nobody really trusts him yet. I think if Steve gave Bucky the shield it would have been taken away fairly quickly.

Before this, I didn't care for Falcon much, but his scenes in this episode made me like him more than all the previous movies. The "I'm too proud to take money from my brother" story is very tired and overused, didn't like that very much. This steps up the special effects game quite a bit over WV and The Mandalorian before it. I would be very happy if they just stopped doing movies and gave us short-form episodes on streaming instead. While overall a fairly ok episode, I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with this show from here and Loki next.

I believe that the reason the US decided to have a new Captain America at this moment is simply because it's the earliest they could do it. Sam just gave the government the shield to be put in a museum, so they could now take it and give it to somebody else.
