This episode and at least the next two were already filmed last year but hadn't been edited so they decided to end last season with the previous episode. The Hope waking up was definitely bad especially when the previous episode Hope was 'a nonconsential kiss is never the answer '. Of course Ric could be wrong about the reason and maybe we will find out more later.

The key word is "non-consensual". When it was suggested that Hope kiss Josie to wake her, we didn't know that the pig making the suggestion actually was Josie, so Hope had no reason to believe that Josie would consent (and that's ignoring the question of Hope's "consent" -- I mean, if she only kissed Josie because she was pressured into it, that's not really consent, is it?). Landon, on the other hand, had every good reason to believe Hope would consent to his kiss. They've been in a relationship for a couple of years, have kissed many times, have exchanged "I love you"... add in Alaric's theory that the reason Hope wasn't waking up was because Landon was dead, and Landon had every good reason to believe Hope would not just consent to, but be delighted by his kiss. WHICH SHE WAS.

Am I the only one that thinks this show is becoming a little too much fantasy and cheese? It’s moving to far from its Vampire Diaries origins. Idk what do you guys think. By the way I’m so glad I joined this Patreon 🙂 hope everyone is safe and happy.
