There are times when an average or just OK show (sorry ZEP fans!) has an episode or part of an episode that shines so brightly that you can't help but sit up and pay attention. The sign language song in this episode was such a moment for me. Bravo, whoever came up with that! Also, rewatching I noticed that the lyrics of The Sound of Silence sang by Howie early on in the episode effectively foreshadow the sign language number. Very cool!

The sign language song was amazing. When I was taking an ASL course in college my teacher took use to a Deaf College to watch them perform a play.

That's cool. That would be fun to see. Back when I was in my last year at USF in Tampa in 06-07 I was in an ASL course and we had to take a song and then look up signs that fit for the lyrics and then perform it in front of the class by ourselves while we had the song playing behind us. I chose an All American Rejects song- It Ends Tonight. It was during s6 of Smallville and the band appeared on the show at a party Lex was throwing. Between being obsessed with Smallville at the time and already having the cd I was like that would be a cool one to use. Luckily after practicing in the mirror I was able to get through it in class without screwing up. lol
