Sometimes the video is unavailable to stream as it takes time to process. This means you may have to download it to watch the reaction. Sorry about that!

I want to thank everyone for being so patient with me on this journey. We are finished. The show is done. I am honestly so thankful and so pleased with the community that this show has introduced me to I just can't find the words to express it.

Now that the show is over, I expect a lot of people to leave - and that's fine, I completely understand. I love you all the same. Always & Forever.

Thank you.

Next week will have nothing on Monday and then the following week we will begin Legacies! I hope you're excited!

I know it might seem pointless that both Klaus and Elijah had to die; however, they are both actors, and I think you need to read into their viewpoints a bit more. Both Daniel Gillies and Joseph Morgan did not want to participate in "Legacies," so they had to kill them off.

I really enjoyed this ending, like you said I wished we had alternative ending as you said.

Don't know if this has been mentioned before, but apparently if the Vampire Diaries had ended earlier, this was going to be the ending for Damon and Stefan. Julie Plec said that the original idea was for them to die and Elena to be able to go forward with a normal human life if the show had ended after season 4 or 5. However, once they got past that point and Nina left, she changed the ending. Hence The Originals getting this ending. Will be interesting to see your reaction to Legacies.

I told myself id be fine rewatching this. I actually cried more watching it the 2nd time than i did the first time. It hits so hard this time, years later. Im totally blown away that you were so clueless about legacies, makes me even more excited to see how you react to it. We knew at the start of this season that Hope would be the main lead of Legacies so it sort of ruined the surprise.

Joseph Morgan and Daniel Gilles have both joked around that if their characters were to die, it was gonna be against each other in a sword fight, so this is kinda close

My only issue with this finale is that we have seen miltiple times how an original dies and the sparkly shit ain't it.

Why does everyone need everything explicitly explained or shown to them? Do we live in a society now where nuance and implication can't exist? Why do you NEED to see a scene of Haley and Elijah together? The whole point of Hope refering to it is so you THINK of these moments later rather than be spoon fed them. Also all these complaints and moans about plot holes in the ending are from the same crowd who probably complained that the Eagles didn't just carry the Hobbits to Mt Doom in LotR, clearly they don't understand what a narrative is. (That was more for the comments above ) I had so much to say about this episode, but my most prominent moment was when Elijah and Klaus stake each other, Elijah almost looks panicked and unsure, then her looks to Klaus whose calm look is almost a comforting "it'll be alright" look... It was how the show should have ended , focused on the two Original Brothers

I remember hearing Julie Plec at comic con before this season hiw the thing that sold her on casting Danielle Rose Russell as Hope was seeing the ending of Aloha which she was in with Bradley Cooper. There were a few things they weren't able to do this season due to either budget or time restraints, one of them being unable to show Klaus fully turn into a wolf. The other was the loose end that was Aurora, who was last seen still in a magical coma earlier this season and Julie decided it would be funnier if that's how her story ends with her being left asleep to be forgotten

I believe the reason we didn't see Klaus and Elijah's 'peace' is because if they showed Elijah with Haley then they would have to show Klaus's peace which would be with Cami and half of the fan base would get mad because they want Klaus with Caroline.

Jon

I agree. Their bodies should have burned.

I agree with this, but that's an explanation external to the story being told. I don't think they did a good enough job giving an in-universe justification for killing both of them. Within the story, Klaus leaving Hope an orphan when there was someone else willing to take on the burden of the dark magic and die in his place, someone who was planning to die with or without that dark magic inside him, doesn't really make a lot of sense to me. I just wish they had done something like, have Freya and/or Vincent say that, as Hope's father, Klaus was the only one who could take the dark magic. That would have made me feel like his sacrifice was necessary. They way they did it, they just left me feeling like Klaus left Hope an orphan when it didn't have to be that way.

can't wait for legacies!!! :)

Klaus's peace could certainly be with Cami, because he loves her, but I think it would be much more in character if his peace was with his father, Ansel. Because Klaus always wanted a father, but he couldn't accept his love when he came back from the dead, so I think that he at peace with Ansel would be wonderful.

I think there are "three" reasons for this; first because it is conceptual and more beautiful in a final scene; second because the ashes do not eliminate the fact that their body may have burned right away, they just didn’t show it and third because Julie Plec said that they planned a final scene after that which would be a jump in the time, about five years, where we would see a child playing in that same place and we would see Freya calling him by the name that would be "Nik". The ashes would be a "metaphor" to say that Klaus and Elijah are all over the city and that Nik had "inherited" their essence and such. Too bad we didn't have that scene, it would be beautiful.

That scene made me excited to see her in this show. That movie wasn't very good even though it had a few actors I like. That scene was the best scene of the movie thanks to her and she didn't say a word.

Fly on the Wall

I know that's probably one of the whys, but Plec wanted to do this double brother suicide ending for TVD so she just transplanted it here. Klaus never appearing probably would have been an issue so kill him, sure. Makes sense for that and for the story started on TVD, but Elijah didn't need to be seen visiting the school. Have him go to France to be with that chick he was in love with all season and make a few remarks that he visited Hope during the breaks between seasons. And I agree with peggin, Klaus' whole reasoning that another man shouldn't die for his father was moot the second Elijah wanted to die with him. At that point, just let Elijah do this for you since he wanted to atone for his mistakes and he had just learned Hayley was waiting for him in the afterlife. Elijah always wanted Klaus' redemption and he got it, he'd have been happy to take that journey alone so Klaus could be with his daughter.

Fly on the Wall

I also feel having Elijah take half of the Hollow would have given a proper reason for them both dying instead of choosing to die with Klaus. He was right there at the end of 5x12 and then he take some of it in 5x13, but they say it was temporary. If they had removed that temporary line, it makes complete sense they both have to die to destroy the Hollow.
