I don't think Max did damn his soul. The witch died before passing it on to him, so him taking the ring wouldn't mean anything about a soul deal anymore. Max had his own power to make it work, and didn't need the demon power. I was really getting miffed at the BMOL stuff. It just seemed so poorly done -writing and planning - whatever. I just couldn't figure out what the BMOL deal was that justified them being like that. Something seemed off, so the whole BMOL was just not working for me at this point. I felt bad for Sam and Dean though. Especially Dean. He would take what both Mary and Cas are doing pretty hard, even though you can tell that he's trying not to. And poor Sam still keeps getting knocked out. Other hunters are just the Red Shirts of SPN. That's just the way it is and we have to accept that. They are there to serve a plot point and that's it. I don't like it either, but have just decided to let it go.
