great reaction. However, I think your post episode have me really anticipating your reaction to next season. I don't mind what they appeared to have done to Elijah because I have always felt he and Klaus have been two halves where he has been who has been to balance out Klaus. In beginning he was noble and more thoughtful as a way to balance out Klaus who has violent and quick to react. Then when Klaus had to change to be a good father to Hope it almost seems like Elijah became more aggressive and violent so that Klaus wouldn't have to be. This has been Elijah's whole existence for over 1000 years. Something drastic would have to be done to change it.

To address some of your concerns about the season, the Keelin/Freya relationship seemed to go fast because one you don't actually know how much time has actually passed over the season and two they had a much reduced episode count for the last 2 season of the show. The time from episode 1 to episode 13 was by the looks around the 4-6 month so the relationship wasn't that whirlwind. Now the reason why they had to split, the spelled called for 4 pieces and that could mean 4 items or 4 people and they can't be close to one an other or they called to each other.

This was actually written to be a potential series finale in case they didn't get renewed for a 5th season and boy can I say the CW sure took its sweet a*s time to renew it

I am normally a hater of "dreams/amnesia" plot devices . Bit this series is where I feel they earned it (I don't think they did in Vamp Diaries) Elijah has spent his life fighting on Klaus's redemption and for him to have to ask for it all to be taken away from him is heartbreaking

Fun fact: when this aired it felt more like a series finale, because it wasn't renewed for the 5th and final season until after the season was over.
