The thing about a human vessel getting in the way of sending Lucifer to the cage was wrong. They had done it before. There are definitely more and more inconsistencies/continuity errors,etc. as tiome goes by. New writers and new creative teams. And sometimes I think they just want to change the rules or history some times. It can get frustrating if you let it. I find it a bit of a laugh seeing how many ways the writer's try to figure out how to nullify Cas's powers or his ability to win any fight there is between the winchesters and other humans, or monsters. Jared did do a great job delivering that line, and I understand why you flubbed and said Jensen. It got to be expected that Jensen was the one to pull at the heart strings with those simple, yet poignant, lines. Jared can do it too, apparently. I just realized, season 12 is where a new creative team started for the show. So I guess we can blame problems on them. lol

the way they sent him back in a vessel before was with the four horseman rings which they don't have now and need to send him back in his spiritual angelic form so no continuity error. also even if they did still did or do have the rings somewhere the only way they got him in before was because he was in sam as a vessel and it took everything he had to jump in. there would be no way to get lucifer to jump into the portal or push him in. he could snap his fingers and explode them like he did with cas before they could do anything. I don't get why sometimes people say hey they could do this or that and it's seems like everyone just forgets what actually happened before and why they can't do that stuff. It's not a continuity error on the writers part it's people not remembering what actually happened in the show and coming up with there own thing. They can't put him away in a vessel now for the same reasons they couldn't put him away in s5 in nick's body as a vessel.

I don't know if you knew who the new guy is who is playing Vince Vicente Lucifer's new vessel but his name is Rick Springfield and like Vince is an aging rocker who was popular in the 80s he had the song Jessie's Girl.

i always thought if it been Mick who talked to them first and be civil instead of attacking them like Lady Beville things might have gone way different.

The demon blade was the one that Dean tried to kill Amara with and was shattered. That's why they haven't been using it.
