Watching Shan's reactions have taught me one thing....there have been a shit ton of gingers as characters through the years...like a shit ton....a disproportionate amount now that I think about it.

i'm ok with the change because of story needs but in the comics Wally is Iris's nephew not brother. I mean she would have had to have had a brother or sister anyway then and Iris and Barry aren't old enough for her to have a nephew old enough to be kid flash unless she had an older sibling and the nephew was around their age

I’m not sure it’s going to help have a comment this far back in the the released videos, but writing is all about sending a message out into the world and tugging on your reader’s heartstrings. I imagine that back when the comics were first developed, gingers were still very discriminated; however, nowadays people dye their hair red and freckles can be seen as cute. If there’s storylines pertaining to discrimination, it’s a lot easier for the audience to relate if it’s relevant to them. I’ve seen a lot of discrimination against blacks and Jews, but I wasn’t even aware that gingers used to be stigmatized until in late high school. That being said, representation is always a good idea. Having more ginger characters could lower any stigma, should it still linger. Diversity is a good thing.
