In season 1, caroline said she wanted to be a reporter after high school. Also, the music playing when bonnie was examining the phoenix stone was "Dawn" by Breaking Benjamin

You gotta love the hypocrisy of Stefan judging Damon for killing one of Lily's heretics just a few days after he, Caroline and Matt tried to kill all six of them.

Fly on the Wall

I'm not mad at Damon for doing Damon things. Just saying Stefan wasn't being hypocritical.

"The town" didn't make a deal. 99.9% of the town was compelled to leave and doesn't know anything about any deal. STEFAN made a deal, giving up DAMON'S house, without even discussing it with him first. Damon is not bound by any deal Stefan made, which makes Damon's actions exactly the same as Stefan's, except Damon only killed one person instead of trying to kill six. And that Damon actually succeeded instead of botching his plan.

Fly on the Wall

And again, he wasn't because the deal wasn't in place at the time. He's not mad at Damon for killing someone. He's mad at Damon for breaking the deal that he made to keep the peace.

Fly on the Wall

Are you one of those people that defend Damon no matter what he does? He's my favorite character, too, but he deliberately went behind his brother's back and violated a deal he made. It's doesn't matter if Damon made the deal or not. He was aware of it and chose to intentionally undo it and that choice got Elena and Caroline taken. I love Damon to pieces, but you don't have to defend his every choice. He makes bad calls sometimes. Just like Bonnie made a choice to stab Kai in the back that got them in this mess in the first place.

A deal Stefan had no right to make, giving away a house that half belonged to Damon, without discussing it with Damon first

Anonymous

No, I call Damon on his crap when he's wrong. This time he wasn't. Stefan had no right to make any deal behind Damon's back and then expect Damon to be bound by it. And the whole thing was Stefan's fault (and Caroline's & Matt's) -- the heretics had killed 2 people who, while maybe they didn't deserve to die, were hardly innocent. All of the Mystic Falls crew have done far worse, but those 3 made a decision to kill all of the heretics, despite the fact that not even all of them were responsible for the deaths. Stefan didn't even attempt to have a conversation with them first, he just straight-up went to attempted murder of all of them, even the ones who weren't involved. And the WORST part of Stefan's deal was that it gave the heretics the right to kill any innocent person who happened to wander into the town. At least when Damon killed Malcolm, it was after he caught him in the act of killing one of the innocent people Stefan had left unprotected.

Fly on the Wall

I don't disagree with you there. Stefan shouldn't have given away their house without talking to Damon. That just wasn't the issue.

Anonymous

But it is the issue -- Stefan didn't have the right to make the deal, so therefore the deal doesn't apply to Damon

Fly on the Wall

I never said whether it was a good or bad deal or if it should have been made in the first place. It's just that Stefan being mad at his brother for undoing his plan for peace isn't hypocritical to him attempting to kill the Heretics when there wasn't a plan for peace at the time. You also still seem to want to wash Damon's hands of what came next. Damon's actions directly lead to the capture of Caroline and the endangerment of Elena. That was mostly what Stefan was reacting to. In the end this is all meaningless as the two brothers reconciled almost immediately as they realized Lily's goal was to divide them anyway and they opted not to let her. I agree wholeheartedly though that their decision to kill the Heretics in the first was way too rash. Those teens ran over Val and left her to die. I'm not weeping at their funerals.

Fly on the Wall

Life doesn't work that way. Sometimes agreements are made in your absence and just because you don't get a say doesn't mean you get to do what you want. Especially if you know what the consequences will be. Again, no one is saying the deal was a good deal. Just that killing someone off a deal versus killing someone on a deal aren't the same to each other.

Fly on the Wall

Let me put it this way, Lily made a deal of peace herself before all that went down and she was mad at her Heretics for violating it even though they weren't the ones who actually made it.

Anonymous

So, basically, Stefan's not a hypocrite, he just acted like an idiot?

Fly on the Wall

I can agree with that. More or less, he did. I mean Lily didn't even take a moment to worry for her children before telling Stef he goofed big. So how does he rectify that, give them the keys to the house and the whole damn city.

Anonymous

Well, we weren't discussing Lily, but I kind of think she was wrong, too. You don't have the right to bind other people to a deal before you've even discussed the terms of the deal with them. I mean, if Stefan had been elected Mayor or something, he might have a leg to stand on, but as it is, who was he to make a deal and expect anyone besides himself to be bound by it?

Anonymous

Stefan tried to killed all of them and Damon actual kills one and Stefan going at him.
