So sorry you had to endure this one, but we've all had to. Some people have actually skipped it. We couldn't warn you though. Would have been a spoiler. But I don't need to see this to imagine your reaction. I will watch it though, because it may be fun to see you watch anyway. ;)

Shan, everyone is & was in violent agreement with you that the CW crapped all over us with this one bc Yes it was a backdoor pilot and YES It sucked ass they just sprung it on the fans with no warning at all and as you saw with no characters we are familiar with and I'm not one to skip any episodes but this one I do!!🤫🙄

I thought it had a good premise(monster crime families feuding), but unfortunately, the execution was...not done well.

I tried but I couldn't watch it to the end. That was painful. i think this is the only episode I ever skip on rewatch.

I don't know who told them it was a good idea to run with a storyline setup that has been done to death. I mean, the rogue cop or, the family member of a rogue cop, who goes after the top crime families in Chicago, one of which is being sabotaged from the inside by a foolish young relative of the elderly families leader, and a young outsider coming in to save the family business and keep the peace? Ooooh! I have a great idea for a spinoff...we will rewrite the plot of any 40's-50's gangster movie, only instead of mobsters they will be monsters...what do you think?

Can someone explain to me what she means by the “first back-door pilot”? I can’t seem to remember one, and I can’t find evidence anywhere online of one existing before Bloodlines. My memory might just be failing me, but I can’t figure it out.

Fact: Bloodlines was supposed to be a Supernatural spin-off that The CW decided to shut down before it aired... It's not the only one that got shut down either. Bad move from The CW in my personal, and many others, opinion. If you don't want to like something chances are you won't... Especially if your minds not open to anything outside the show. Love your reactions, but if your really not open to these types of episodes why bother finishing it? You clearly made your mind up in the first 10 minutes that you didn't like it.

Did you pay attention to what she said about the episode? She said that she doesn't mind backdoor pilots, as long as they have to do with characters that have been built up. This episode introduced a bunch of new characters and centered around them, with Sam and Dean playing minor roles. That was the problem she had. Also, she said that she was giving the episode a chance because she liked one of the actors.

I heard all that... I get it. I just saw the episode as a new beginning and would have liked seeing the spin-off with occasional guest stars vs thinking it was dumb as many have said. It was another form being introduced back then that so many shut down... I love ASR but my personal frustration to the negative fredback just means I shouldn't have watched this once she stopped and said she would keep watching it for the ONE actor. It was my fault for watching, and I did apologize in the next reaction comments for the comment I made.

YOUR Shit sweetie, never forget it. Awesome, cool, interesting concept episode, with a ton of interesting avenues, and ideas with just the right slight amount of cheese. SUCH a shame it never got the chance to take of/have a first season. Anyway we ALL KNOW the true UTTER TRAGEDY of SPN IS ''Wayward Sisters ''.....sigh

this episode wasn't the best. I thought the monster family concept could be interesting but the execution wasn't great. I didn't mind that sam an dean weren't in most of of because I knew what they were doing with it being a back door pilot but the tone just felt off it felt more like originals and while i like that show it just didn't fit the way the supernatural monsters are quite as well. also i wasn't crazy about ennis. Though I don't get what back door pilot you were talking about was done before this one because this was the first one. The only episode I can think of you turned off was Bitten and that wasn't meant to be a backdoor pilot at least as far as I know it was just an episode were the are experimental and film differently using the pov found footage style and sam and dean were shown in background because it focused on the the characters and them turning into werewolves and made it like a horror movie so sam and dean showed up here and there.

For me this is not Supernatural. It ranks 327/327 on my Supernatural list. Very Bottom. I don't think I can even watch Shan's reaction to it!
