Stefan could have faked it from the beginning, but I mean she had a girl, Sarah, on a table being operated on by a compelled medical student, Liam. If she had had figured it out, he would be risking her life and well-being. He's not currently working with any time restraints or people in peril at the moment so his risk factor is a bit lower to try and fool her right now. Give in now and fix it later. The mom is obviously the reason for the story, clearly. But, that's not why Stefan did it. You can't gamble on people's lives when being faced with an ultimatum and you only have moments to act.

He's honestly not very convincing and now you see why he didn't do this before when Sarah's life depending on him faking it, lmao.

Once elena takes the cure and becomes human again, all Damon needs to do is drink the cure out of her blood. It won't cause elena to excessively age like Katherine did when silas drank the cure from her because elena has only been a vampire for a couple years, but if someone drains the cure from damon's blood, he'll die in a matter of weeks since he's been a vampire for nearly 2 centuries

I will never get over how dumb it was to give Caroline the letter when they hadn't even begun to break through to her. So damn stupid. In general, the way Stefan has handled Caroline without her humanity has been so stupid it hurts...

It's not so much how long Elena or Katherine were vampires, but how long they've been alive in general. Elena being 18 when she turned and it only being a few years later versus Katherine living for five centuries.

This is true. Maybe they feared her noticing it had been opened? Not sure. I was kind of hoping Liz had told Stefan what she wrote in the flashback.

It also seems like the Cure at first had the effect that it didn't cause aging right away, something with in it's properties that once it cure immortality, it kept the person alive as long as the cure was in the system. Now since Vampirism isn't the same as the regular immortality spell that Silas had, since he couldn't die, but vampires still can, it's why Silas needed to take all of the cure from Katherines' body, hence her quick aging process that happened once it was out of her system. This I feel explains some stuff later on as well when it comes to the Cure later. The show does a shitty explaining this. Vampirism is a lesser form of Immortality than the one Silas had, why Doppleganger's came about so a version of him and Amora that could be killed took place. Thus, lesser form of immortality, less cure is needed.

Thank you!!! I was so mad when they gave her the letter and let her burn it. And I disagree her mom turned her humanity back on so I feel like her reading the letter would have made it a smoother transition into her emotions then all the pain she felt for burning a letter. That whole situation was just handled so poorly!
