As great as the Oz stuff is, I could easily watch an entire episode of Sam, Dean, and Charlie hanging out watching Netflix and talking. But that final shot of the girls walking into Oz with AC/DC playing was pretty epic. Just to answer a couple of your questions...1) The Witch's spell with the cauldron before she opened the door was about summoning her army. It was not part of the actual door magic. 2) The Crowley scenes seemed to be just to remind the audience that he was still locked up and the boys are trying to get more demon names out of him.

In the original book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz the shoes are not red but silver. They were made red for the 1939 movie to be more colorful. I don't think they were ever described as being high heeled shoes but they did have powerful magic the witch wanted.
