I've watched since it aired and we are currently on season 6 and confirmed for season 7. I'm familiar with a lot of the actors and love the relationships between characters which truly keeps the show going.

You are correct about the initial premise of the show. However, things can change during a show's run. Here's an example: There was another TV show in the US called "Cougar Town", It starred Courtney Cox (Monica Gellar from 'Friends'). The initial theme/premise of the show was a single, newly-divorced middle-aged mother of a teenager getting back into the dating pool and hooking up with a young stud in his 20's. So, she's a ~45-ish woman dating a guy about 20 years younger than her. Hence the word "Cougar" in the title. Midway through the first season, the comedy and novelty of that had played itself out, and they retooled the theme and direction so that now it was about a single mother of a teenager in her 40s experiencing what it was like to be on her own after almost 20 years of marriage. They added in additional friends-type supporting characters, played by Busy Phillips, Christa Miller, and Ian Gomez. The show lasted 5 additional seasons by doing this.
